Yey!!!! So you actually got to see the consultant today? Was she sympathetic to you? Hopefully your sweep might kick start stuff off. Did she agree to induce purely cos of your SPD hun?

Yep I saw my proper consultant and she was fab, really lovely and understanding, and yes inducing purely because of the SPD. She said she has certain markers that she uses to weigh up whether to induce on the basis of SPD and I met every single one of them. Probably helped that I went in on crutches, tear streaked face, no make up and unwashed hair...
hubby came along with me today (first midwifes he has been to so i asked him not to ask any silly questions etc) so when midwife was having a feel of baby he asked if she could tell what sort of weight it was going to be, to which she replied at least 8and a half to 9 pound. I didnt want to know that hence the reason ive never asked them. hubby had to buy me a bigmac to make up for it.

I daren't ask the size question. If he was 5lbs at the 33 week growth scan god only knows how big he's going to be at term! Bigmac is a seriously good idea though :D

  • Meant to say, the consultant was so pleased with things that she said if it wasn't for my SPD I would be an ideal candidate for a home birth () and that if everything goes according to plan she's said I can be on a 6 hour discharge :D! She also noted that I'd specifically asked for foreceps not to be used which I'm seriously relieved about too!

I looked blimmin awful last week - fat lot of good it did me. Will try it again tomorrow though. Might try and 'borrow' a wheelchair so I go in looking really pathetic!!!! People who do not have SPD cannot possibly understand how painful and debilitating it can be i.e. MEN!!!

My NCT Mom's have never heard of it - the lucky blighters!

Don't suppose you know if Worcs do a 'mobile' epidural do you? We were talking about it today - Birmingham Woman's do but I've been told not a lot of other places have it - it's what I'd set my heart on!

    C xx

    Good plan!

My consultant was saying there are a lot of people who go in with "SPD" but they don't struggle to stand up and just jump up on the couch and move easily - she thinks a lot of people read about it on the internet and think its an easy excuse for requesting a c-section because there is no conclusive test to say whether or not you've "got" SPD.

When she started talking I thought she was accusing me of faking it, but she was quick to reassure me when the tears started :o
