I'm teetering between teary and angry tonight. My neighbours honestly either have the best social life ever or are running a brothel, all I can hear is mens voices constantly, in the hallway. The noise is constant, they don't walk anywhere they run, so it's continual thudding coming through the ceiling, running up and down the stairs (it's a 2 floored flat they have and I can honestly hear them when they're on the second floor!) takeaways arriving constantly who ring our buzzer then they don't answer their door so the take away people get mardy and end up leaving.

I know they're young and probably just moved out of parents house so I don't want to go charging in and moan, I'm young myself, and this time last year was probably a bit of a party animal, but I lived at home and was respectful of the other people in my street and in my house when leaving/coming home at 3 am in the morning. Plus I don't wanna go in all horns blazing because I have a baby due who will probably like to scream all night, so it could be a situation of pot kettle. It's getting me down though :(

oh gilly thats rubbish, bloody inconsiderate s0ds, dont really know what to advise, it is difficult..... although you can rest assured you will get your own back with a baby crying during the night.

The thing is I don't even think they realise, it's 4 girls who on the face of it look nice enough, they're not "rough" or anything, and are just normal students I guess. I feel we're stupid for moving into this area, but when we signed the lease we didn't know about baby, that came along 3 weeks later. All summer it's been quiet as noone has been living there, and we get peace at weekends as they seem to go home.

Don't get me wrong though, once baby is here, they will be made aware of that, and if we continue to get the knocks on the door from drunken young boys and the screaming and shouting in the hall, they will hear me, I won't be having it. I think I'll just eat my lasagne and go back to bed, at least when I'm sleeping I can't hear anything :)

I would knock on their door Gilly, maybe early afternoon or sometime, one day before they start making a load of noise. Students or not, they need to be made aware of the impact they are having on their neighbours. That sort of noise and behaviour may be acceptable in halls of residence, where it's all students, but as I'm assuming you don't live in a halls of residence, then I would have a word.

18 months ago I lived in a flat where the couple above us used to play really loud music every evening, then on Saturday's they'd go out and come in at 6am with a crowd of friends and stick the music back on. I went and knocked on their door and politely asked them a couple of times to have a bit more respect for the other people who lived in the building. The third time it happened I went into the fuse box cupboard and turned their electricity off at the source. The early Sunday morning parties soon stopped!

They seem to have settled down now, think they may have hangovers from last night

Why is one slice of lasagne never enough, I want another, probably wouldn't be able to eat it though :o
