I had a look the other day gilly but there isnt any before my due date, so i emailed them but am yet to get reply, dont know if they are any better than the standard nhs ones.... my friend loves the social group she got out of it though. I've decided not to go to any classes, the midwife just gave me all the leaflets today that she would normally give out, and talked me through a couple of things, I said I wasnt keen as OH is away and dont have anyone else to go with etc. sorry rambling....0

See I'm not proper keen on going either, but I know it may help with labouring etc. I feel I'll regret it if I don't go, but I'll whine and moan about it being a waste of time if I do go. It's my first so I'm really not sure what to do...The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0

the midwife was really good talking me through the leaflets she gave me, and I will have a good old read through, she spoke to me about breathing and the difference between the midwife led unit and the delivery suite, drugs, labouring positions, its all on the paperwork she gave me.... I'm just a bit shy in meeting new people, it wouldnt be so bad if OH was here but hes not so Im not going, hence why she went through stuff with me. I think it is each to their own really hun. Its my first too but I think I'm going to brave it.0

Here is a question ladies, did anyone pay for the NCT antenatal classes? The night of the free classes doesn't suit us as OH works, and can't really change it. Wondering if these are worth the money or not?
Yes and we now all meet weekly for lunch as we're starting to drop!
The classes were pretty good but ours were a bit rushed as the format & teacher changed at the last minute. We did two full days & a breastfeeding evening session. To be honest I'd read a lot before I went so I didn't discover anything groundbreaking - but it was good to hear other views on things & to now have the social group. I think I paid about £160 for hubby & I in total inc NCT membership (£35 per year).

Personally I found the NCT antenatal classes worth every penny, but only for the friends I made through them. We did a 2 day intensive course as well, and it was a lot better than the NHS ones (IMO). I'm still good friends with most of the people I met on the course (we try to meet up every week if we can), and in fact 4 of us were pregnant at the same time this time round so it was nice to have the support again.DFW by end of June 2016...! I'm awake too missymoo! Contractions completely stopped about midnight so I went to bed and slept all night! Poor dh couldn't believe it, he'd got all excited thinking he was coming! I'm not too bothered because I know he'll be here in the next day or so but it was funny watching his face during every contraction :rotfl:0
