That really sucks :( My OH works for the most unreasonable company ever, but I've read through the guidelines and his hand book and he's entitled to 2 weeks paid paternity. Luckily his boss's gf is due in November so I said make sure you keep an eye on what he's getting/doing, because I know they will try and fob him off

I'm not to upset to be honest lol his work has said its not a problem to have time off but because he is with an agency and only just started he wants to prove himself, hes thinking about the long term benefits for us as a family, this could turn out to be a good long term job for him, i'm really proud of the hard work hes putting in :T

If your OH is entitled to his leave make sure he gets it :)

Aw bless, that's so sweet. I don't think I realise how much my OH does at times, especially when I'm moaning a lot. When I do I'm gonna think back to this post and not give him such a hard time :o

My OH was redundant for a while and I worked full time plus overtime and never really felt appreciated so I think this is his way of making it up to me, he has always been a hard working lad and being out of work really wasnt good for him :( If this job turns out to be long term I will be able to go back to my part time hours after mat leave :)

That's great Winnie. DH will get 2 weeks fully paid too. Plus we are hoping we get a date for a Wednesday or Thursday so he can have an extra couple of days using holiday then start his paternity leave on the Monday meaning he has 2 and a half weeks off yey!

We knew DH would get one week but because of stuff at work (they're moving premises, DH is project managing the move for IT) it was a bit hit and miss whether he would be allowed the second week so he's been saving up all his leave too! He has 11 days leave so he could have a whole month off! :D

Bella and Winnie you both have lovely other halfs by the sound of things! I'm unsure whether to let him take 2 weeks paternity and 2 weeks leave, not sure if I'll be glad of the help or just want him out from under my feet :o We'l see how things go.

Jenjade I'm the same, no issues sleeping at all, my only issue is I'm not getting enough! I feel really lazy though :o but everyone keeps telling me it's allowed :D

It will just be nice to have DH around for 2 and a half weeks mainly for looking after the other 2 boys i.e. lunchboxes done, getting them to school, making sure swimming kits, forest school stuff and PE stuff is sorted etc etc. And to help with housework obviously!
Thank you to everyone for sharing competitions!

We've decided he's going to take the first two weeks regardless and then, depending on how much help I need and how urgently work need him back, he'll either take the second two weeks or use his leave to go down to 3 day weeks for a few weeks. We're pretty lucky in that his work are fairly flexible with what he wants to do :)

We're lucky that way, with DH. My work aren't offering anything more than the minimum no-frills maternity, but DH has a great relationship with his bosses, and only works a few minutes from our house. I don't know yet if he's put in for leave- they've told him already not to worry about cover when I go into hospital.
It'll be nice to have him around though, and I'm sure they'll allow him time off above the minimum....

Gilly- just sleep. I keep getting told it's allowed too, which is good, as I can't control it sometimes! :) I'll sit on the sofa when I come in from work and tell DH I'll rest my legs for a couple of mins before making dinner- next thing I'm getting a gentle nudge and DH is handing me something he's just spent an hour making! :)

I have actually just sent him a text telling him I love him and appreciate everything he's doing for me...... Pregnancy's making me soppy.
