Told DH last night, in no uncertain terms, that he couldn't go to work today, and the fact that he had failed to book it off was his problems, and as such he would have to deal with the consequences. I told him that if his employer thinks that getting another member of staff to message him on Facebook to tell him he's got an unexpected shift in 20 hours is acceptable, then I'm sure a phone call two hours before a shift to say "I can't make it" will suffice.
I told him how important this appointment was, and he just kept quiet. I assumed he would just deal with it.
    Wrong.
Got up, tested my blood, and was getting ready to leave when I'm told he has to go to work and I'll have to miss my appointment.
Cue a huge argument about how me & Dyl are infinitely more important than an employer who f*cks him around constantly.
Unfortunately, he can't bring DS to work as he works in a pub, and is doing the busy lunch shift. He'll be doing 3 hours work, and earning £18, and this is his priority!!!!!
I can't leave the house alone with DS thanks to 3 flights of stairs that I physically don't have the strength to drag the pram up and down.
So I phoned the hospital, who take my blood readings since Thursday, and I'm told I have to go this afternoon to be given insulin as a matter of urgency. Have told DH if he isn't here by 4pm all hell will break loose.
As for seeing a dietician, doctor, etc, there are no appointments available for 2 weeks.
DH now in the dog house and has been told if he ever puts his job before our kids again, I will break every bone in his body.

    morning all,

things on the floor are already out of bounds for me. i need to pick up all the dog poop from the lawn but i dont think i can do it and the lawn needs mowing... oh well guess it will have to wait

i am feeling okay today. well legs are killing but that's nothing new.!

i am not worried about people visiting i haven't got any spare rooms so no one can stay and i am not making tea and coffee etc they can get it all themselves and wash up after themselves too!

    That's the right attitude :D
When I had DS, we were brought home by my mom, followed in a car by my MIL & her husband.
When we got home, we remembered it was a sh*t tip (DS came 4w 4d early, right in the middle of me nesting. There were boxes of crap and half assembled nursery furniture (that had arrived the day before I went into labour) everywhere)
Cue the mothers tutting and proceeding to tidy my house
Have said this time that once we get home, local family can pop over for an hour or so (not until the day after!) but if they want food/drink they have to do it themselves.
Also, MIL & SIL are banned until I say otherwise...

My other half said the other day of the baby comes during the night he probably wont be there coz he has his 2 sons that live with him and cant leave them. the boys mother lives 2 minutes down the road i said well you will have to phone her and she will have to look after them it is only a one off! He shrugged his shoulders so i followed up with if you are not there when it is born then it will be over between us and i will call the baby what ever i like and you can get knotted! was not impressed. lets hope the baby comes in the day or he makes sure he is there!!

Visitors. My family live an hour away, his five minutes. They both have a key.

They're more than welcome to visit whenever they like, particularly if their doggy-walking skills are up to date. :)

We've most of the major stuff done, so it's really a case of tidying and cleaning. Our freezer (which needs defrosted, may do that tonight) is stocked full of stews, soups, lasagnes etc. DH doesn't want to defrost as it's full- I've pretty much said there's no other time we can do it, it's going to be stuffed until long after baby! Everything chucked in the sink with the easy defrost stuff in the centre and a towel on top will do fine for the hour I need.

I know likely my mum and my MIL at least (if not my horde of sisters) will want a look through the fridge in case we need anything, and will iron and wash up for us if we need, so it would definitely be appreciated!

Don't overestimate the joys of having your OH present.
When I was in labour my OH was doing crosswords and telling me to "shut up, it can't hurt that much, you're not even in labour!"
He shut up shortly after when it turned out my labour had progressed super fast!

Are you sure they are proper contractions Winnie or just painful tightenings/braxton hicks? Hopefully they are doing some good in there!!

They're probably just very regular braxton hicks knowing my luck! Lots of pressure down below though so hopefully they are doing something! Wish I could remember what real contractions felt like from last time, but a fair amount of booze has passed my lips in the intervening 11 years :rotfl:

I'm really shocked at how many OH's are being such idiots! I really feel for you girls and wish there was a way to give them a wake up call! Its appaling!
  • Im actually sort of looking forward to being in labour on my own. Last time OH was bored, tired of having no sleep the previous nights and got himself settled in to a reclining chair and didnt move until pushing time (14 hours after arriving at hospital), he was asleep for a lot of the time then after I had ds he left 20 mins later to go home and sleep leaving us both in the delivery room.

I didnt expect him to do much I hoped he would have at least talked to me, offered me drinks and rubbed my back a bit.

Morning everyone. I honestly think I've got narcolepsy. I am sleeping an incredible amount. I keep waking up though and I'm lying on my back, must be rolling over in my sleep, my body knows how I'm most comfy, clearly :o

Applied for the Mamas & Papas catalogue to get the £5 voucher :) OH's sister has text to say she's bought us a few bits and bobs and will bring them round later so excited to see what they are.

Got my email from Mothercare as I'm further on a week today, apparently he is sleeping for 14 hours a day, doesn't feel like it....
