    Hi all.

Not been on MSE for a while but boredom has got the better of me so I thought I would check up on everyone. Also, I wanted to see if Pigpen had given birth yet! Had a quick snoop at the birth list and it looks like she had a little girl on 16th September. Congrats to her and everyone else who has popped. I got a bit of a shock looking at the EDD list....I was at the bottom last time I was on MSE :S

I'm still plodding along. 34 weeks today. This pregnancy has gone really quickly, though I am under medical supervision for stress. The closer I get to 36 weeks, the more Ive been totally unable to cope. Not really great for me or baby. I've been seeing my consultant weekly and having CTG's twice a week for a while now, and more scans than I could shake a stick at. I don't know if its helping or not. Things *seem* to be fine, but that doesn't really mean much to me anymore. My section date has been moved to 13th October and my consultant is only doing surgery on the Thursday of that week so I have to wait an extra 2 days. Boohoo.

OH and I have changed our mind about his name, although we have agreed on a girls name if we end up with one. Not much chance of that I dont think!

Hope everyone is feeling and doing well. If Im not back before the 13th, il come back and let you know if I end up getting my way on the name front.

    RWB xx

We're going to the Nottingham one, it's a week on Sunday. Have already told OH that I'm only going to get my boobs measured so I can get some maternity/nursing bras online, and for the goody bag! :rotfl:

To be fair, the stuff that they have got people talking about, like nursery furniture, car seats etc, we've already got sorted but am sure there will at least be some interesting information to absorb. I thought it would be worth a look anyway, considering it's free :D

Glad I'm not the only one. :D The one thing I'm looking for is a pushchair that fits in my car. I want one that goes parent facing as well as forward, and folds up small. The only ones I've found so far that might do, come in rubbish colours. :D

Will you lot stop talking! Either that or I must stop going out - it's getting to much to keep catching up!

jenjade I think if you get signed off then they can't ask you to attend a meeting so it'll be cancelled - I vaguely remember a similar situation at work at the beginning of the year (not maternity related though!)

Redwoodbrook - was thinking of you the other day. Take it easy xx

Been out to lunch with the other NCT antenatal class Mom's today - was really good as they are all lovely & we've arranged another lunch for next Wednesday - though I'm seeing the midwife first thing as I think she's going to want to give me a sweep... not sure whether to refuse or not... hmmmm. Wish there was SOMETHING I could do to start labour myself - really want this baby on it's due date!

Lunch with the girls must be very good for you - I've had a burst of energy & tidied most of the house since I got home - unfortunately it didn't extend to starting the ironing... :o

Waiting for DH to come home so I can start dinner - am starving as I haven't had my 16,000 snacks today!

    C xx

PS: Got to find a tape measure & get some bloody bra's ordered - I'm still in my pre-preganancy underwired ones

Oh and if anyone wants ranitidine for heartburn & can't get it from the Drs it is the active ingredient in Zantac - available off the shelf in Boots etc.

for the Mothercare events do you just ask in store? We will more than likely be in tomorrow after the scan.

I spent hours making a curry today, when it comes to eating it, I didn't want it, ended up having 4 mini nans dipped into the sauce. What a waste.

I asked at the till in my store, you fill all your details in on a bit of card, and then they give you the bottom part, which you bring along to claim your goody bag on the night.
  • Gilly/Lirin/4nnabella - I've put on 24lbs so far, still have 11 weeks to go!! I think most of that is in my thighs though...

Winnie - hope you're doing ok, kind of reassuring that you can almost carry on as normal during your contractions (ie by being on here).

RWB - welcome back :) Not long to go now hun, I hope you can find a way to relax lovie.

I'm feeling all "hmpf" this evening :( OH's work is looking like it'll be feast of famine and it's driving me mad. It was so steady in Oz and here he's either doing ridiculously long hours (last week one day was 17 hours) or has nothing at all (he did a 4 day week last week, only 1 day so far this week and nothing even pencilled in for next week or after).

He really enjoys what he does, and whilst the irregularity of his work has irritated me in the past, it's kind of been offset by the fact that my salary was good and steady. Come March next year when I drop down to half pay, and then June when I get SMP only, we're going to be up !!!!!! creek without a paddle... I'm not sure he gets all this, and I'm not sure this feast or famine thing is going to be financially sustainable or practical when the baby arrives. I'd hoped to go back 3 days a week after mat leave, but if his work continues to be patchy, there's no chance of that, and so it puts more pressure on me to continue being the main breadwinner.

He could get other work, more local, but less "fun". But he doesn't really want to, yet I see this as the way forward and that perhaps we/he doesn't have the luxury of choosing fun work over not-so-fun work.

Not sure if I'm just being an old nag, should I support him doing a job he likes and not worry about the money? Or after me being the main breadwinner for all these years is it his time to step up a bit more? Gah. :(
