Just worried about spending the initial outlay if everyone thinks we will give it up anyway, definately can't afford both. (although can sell reusables on ebay)
........ Hi just wanted to say that if you are tight with money maybe worth buying used so that you dont spend too much to start with, usedclothnappytree.com classified and even the usual gumtree/preloved are good places for bargains. The usedclothnappy tree website has lots of advice too. Also car boots! can be good !
There are so many brands and types it is a bit bewildering but when buying used my priorities which were fit for wraps (usefull if it adjusts at waist & leg), drying time, how does brand stand up to washing ie are there any bad reps for elastic & velcro getting ruined after washing), I have got a mixture of stuff (bambino mio for newborn, motherease wraps airflow for when bigger, terry squares for when bigger & disps for newborn (using huggies vouchers!!)
If there are twins involved then the easiest to change (ie cant imagine terry quares would not tip someone over the edge with twins), fast drying, good fitting, long lasting nappies are required. Not much to ask is it
Re ebay peeps are not supposed to sell used nappies but obv people are anyway:rotfl:! !!!!
I am going to give it a bash as am at home anyway and if my mother could do it well...... but I would certainly not go all out with everything until you see how you get on as it may be not for you but good luck!!

ooohh bit of a rubbish thing to talk about, but am concerend and would like peoples opinions.
the hospital i have to go to because im high risk has had some very damning and atrocious reports, especially in the last yr or so in the maternity unit
here is one of the minor incidents recorded but there is loads of different ones if you wish to google resulting in devestating results for mums and babies.

there have been staff changes recently with more staff being employed and when i previously spoke to my local midwives they were saying that they had heard nothing but good reports latley from there since the extra staff etc.
but having picked my son up from school yesterday i was told one of the other mums who was due a week or so ago had gone in and unfortunatley ended up losing her baby, cord was around neck and baby had gone to the toilet inside her and had a very high heat rate.. but she kept telling staff that she needed a c section and needed help but they ignored her and told her it would come naturally, which eventually it did but only lived 15 mins. this info is from the other mums at the school so what is completley accurate i am not 100% sure.
my query is i suppose do you know if i can demand another hospital being high risk, there is another local one mother and baby one but is for low risk only and i know i definatley wont be allowed there but is there anything else i can do/ask for. i am seeing my midwife tomorrow so will have a chat with her then.
sorry to bring the mood down, i know for every horrid story there is plenty more succesful ones. but being due on thurs i think i am starting to over analyis everything and worry againnow proud mum to 3 handsome boys :j latest one born 10/10/11:j0 -
morning all,
i feel more on the attact then yesterday when i felt mad and sad! one thing my manager said yesterday which i am going to write down and tackle her about thursday is she worked out how long i have to stand at one time 3 and a half hour and said David (her manger) is going to find that laughavle that you are grumbeling about standing for 3 and a half hours when teacher stand for 6 hours a day. this really upset me and i think it is because it is true i shouldbe able to stand for 3 and a ahalf hours however i have a medical condition and i cant! wish i could though. i think it hurt because i am frustrated that i cant stand.
anyway my come back to her comment was well they are not pregnant and dont have bad varicous viens.
I am going to write a list of greivinces (sorry cant spell) tonight as earlier in the pregnancy she wrote a rish assessment which she then ignored and made me do things i shouldnt do and she only sent the occ health letter last week and i am going to take a dictaphone and as if i can record the meeting for my records.
she also complained yesterday about my medical appointment being in work time so i will tackle that too then after the meeting i will come home see the doc and get signed off and contact HR to arrange a meeting to put in a complain. i now have a plan of action
Hey hun,
few bits of info for you:
Teachers DO NOT stand for 6 hours a day (Think about it - they only work for 6 hours and an hour of that is lunch!)
My friends wife has just had her baby, and she was a teacher - and he said that when she was pregnant the school insisted on her sitting down for classes where possible.
appointments during work - they CAN NOT stop you from going.
I work 2.5 days a week (Tues, wed .5 day on thurs) - I need to see the OBS at hospital every 4 weeks at the hospital for my thyroid condition - unfortunatley OBS is ONLY open on a Tuesday and im there ALL day - I have this as paid leave and work put it down as "antenatal hospital appointment" - I did initially try and change the appointment (but then i love my job lol) and my boss had a slight grumble but he was told by HR it's illegal to stop me going to appointments.
P.S - DO NOT put ANY holiday's in for ANY hospital appointment - you DO NOT have to use them for hospital appointments.0 -

Ok - firstly - cord round the neck isnt always preventable (regardless what hospital it is) When i was born there was my mum and another that was rushed away because cords was around the baby's neck - I survived, the other baby died. The hospital told both my mum and the other lady to stop pusing, my mum managed it, the other lady didnt. It might have been too late for your friend to have a c sec (by time they had got her to theatre and anethatisied - spellling?! - the baby would have more than likely came out any way the same way it did and would have died regardless) - If the mother decided on a home birth she wouldnt of had a choice either would she? (I know its awful btw and not being harsh)
Why wouldnt you be allowed at the other hospital btw?
I guess go with your gut - The hospital I'm going to has a bad rep - but my DD was born there, I've had 2 ops there and thats where my care is, they've been fine with me so I dont listen to the rumours. If your really that concerned then go elsewhere0 -
I got home last night to turkey, gammon, roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, croquettes, carrots, peas, onions and gravy.... He'd even bought chocolate puddings as well! :rotfl:Was too stuffed afterwards to eat them.
........... oh god I want the above sooo bad, going to have to go shopping the thought of croquettes has been driving me nuts since yesterday :rotfl::rotfl:gilly & Lirin u r bad influences:D

this was just the latest in a long line to be honest, one of my nieces was also still born there at full term after some things not being identified by staff. and loads more stories about equipment not working etc.
i know the cord round the neck happens, it happened to my first and he went to the toilet inside me too but lucky enough had very good care at our old hospital when i had my previous two.
there is not an alternative here hospital here if you are high risk, thats why i was asking for advice if anybody knows if i can insist on going somewhere else ie out of the area etc
im probably just beginning to stress a bit more as it gets nearer my due date to be honest (dont worry o know you wasnt being harsh, its hard to get a point across sometimes just typing lol)
does anuy one find as well they older they get the more they worry about things, i never used to worry about anything but especially since having the kids i worry about more things
oooohhh *ro* croquettes and cold salad cream mmmm i want some nownow proud mum to 3 handsome boys :j latest one born 10/10/11:j0 -
