On the subjects of sleeping area for the baby! Here is a silly question for those girls with babys already.

I was originally thinking moses basket for downstairs, crib for our bedroom and then cotbed for babys bedroom. But I'm now thinking that a crib will be really tight in our bedroom, so thinking do I just get another moses basket. How long can you keep a baby realistically in a moses basket? Are moses baskets a standard size or could I maybe get a bigger moses basket for the bedroom?

Agree with the smaller spaces, I can't imagine a teeny tiny baby (or not in both our cases  ) in a massive cot/cot bed :o but I know for some people it's the only financially viable option.

I may do half in the casserole dish half in the pot, I like how the chicken comes out from the oven all soft and mushy almost, so hopefully I can get that going on. Sent OH into town, as he was doing my head in, so I've got peace to work :D

Have you got a slow cooker? I often do my casseroles in a slow cooker, and they always are great, meat is very tender, but vegetables not too mushy. You can get one quite cheap, and I find it a great time saver - just bung everything in the pot, add stock/wine/other liquid and leave it for a day - dinner ready when back from work. No need to keep checking, stirring, making sure it didn't burn, etc.

Gilly- I use a metal pan with a metal lid that can go in oven it's huge and need industrial gloves to get it out but have done casseroles in oven with it!

Re John Lewis celia birtwell stroller (£42) have out it up and it appears fab for the money!! Haven't looked at rain cover size as emmylou mentioned. Wheels are big and to me is fine for a boy got it in shadow, the flowers are not really too obvious. Have not collapsed it as need to put my foot on a lever and err am probably not up to it!! Now just need something to put In it lol !!! Its suitable from birth by the way for those on a budget!!

We are not getting a crib, although I would have loved one. We might get the moses baskets, it I manage to persuade OH to get them, as I think these would be useful to be able to move babies downstairs during the day or move one to another room if one of them is crying too much and waking up the other. I wasn't thinking to get the stands, at least not for upstairs - they can just go on the cots, I thought. The stands might be useful for downstairs though.

There is a baby sale in our are this weekend, and we are planning to go - will see if I manage to get OH to start getting bits.

Ok, bought the cot bed http://www.boots.com/en/Tutti-Bambini-Lucas-Dropside-Sleigh-Cot-Bed-oak-finish_1109454/ It should go with the oak sideboard already in the nursery. It was the only one I could find that had a drop side, which I think will be much more practical than fixed sides. We have just got a moses basket to start off with, but not planning on having baby in it next to me for too long. I know they say 6 months but I think with my OH getting up so much in the night with his Crohns it might disterb baby so will give it a few weeks and see how we get on.

Well done with the batch cooking Gillyx, for some reason I keep thinking you still have ages to go but you dont at all!!

Two of my friends had their babies yesterday, both girls and a couple of weeks early. They are so gorgeous!

Thanks for the opinions ladies :D I saw a slow cooker for £12 in Tesco yesterday but OH couldn't get his head around it, may head up when he's not here and purchase one. The chicken I've bought has the 14th on it, so I've got a few days yet to decide what to do so I shall wait and see. I really want a le creuset dish and they've just opened a shop in town, we have some Christmas money left, so may go in and see if they have anything in sale at all.

Gin - I would try and persuade your hubby on the moses basket front, you can get them quite cheaply, and with twins they're likely to be smaller than normal full term babies, so they wouldn't be growing out of them right away.

Laura - No I really don't  got my growth scan tomorrow too, since I'm growing what seems to be a monster so will see what the plan of action is after that, God it's scary.

Grr, my phone keeps freezing, I only got it in November too  Looks like I'll have to take it in to Orange, but when my OH sent his phone away they had it 4 weeks, which at this moment in time isn't really what I want to happen.

OH is out, but he's the technical minded one, so he said he'l try and fix it when he gets in. Annoyed.

Good luck with your growth scan tomorrow Gilly, hope it's not too scary :)

My birth pool has arrived, yay! Its a HUGE box. Will have to measure up rooms to decide where it can actually go when it's inflated.... the midwife is coming over tomorrow to let us know what other bits and pieces we'll need for a home birth.

I was absolutely shattered when I got home from work yesterday, so my boss's idea of doing 2 days in work then a day working from home for the next 3 weeks will be a useful one, I'm looking forward to a bit of a lie in tomorrow. Unfortunately DH has to get up for a meeting so I don't think I'll get much extra sleep!

I don't think the waterproof cover we've got for our bed is helping - I keep waking up all sweaty and stuck to the bed sheet, even though we've now got a normal sheet and a fleece blanket between me and the mattress cover. Anyone got any other suggestions? Maybe I'l just try another sheet or blanket layer... I don't want to risk leaving the electric blanket unprotected, just in case my waters break in bed, so we need to keep the waterproof cover on!

I love your cot... But we might have to go with something smaller, as it might be a bit of a squeeze in the room with those (even in the cot size). I quite like these ones:

They come with giraffe or a bear, and you can also have one with the drawer. There is no dropside, but I am sure I could cope without one... Besides, the one we have now doesn't lower much, probably only about 10cm.
