My son fell over...

Please do bring up your children to care for others. There is a whole generation of kids who care for nothing except themselves - not their fault, this is due to society thinking we can make better kids by languishing them with 'love' (stuff), not instilling a sense of guilt or concience etc.
It is only through the younger generation with values like yours that there is a possibility of teaching children to care for others too.
Just wanted to add something here.
My son was in a football accident last week and broke his leg in 2 places and is in full leg cast and has to use a wheelchair, he is 17.
All his mates have rallied round and are pushing him to and from school, coming round to fetch him to make sure he can still go out with them despite it chucking it down with rain and not being able to go in their cars because he cant fit lol not one day has gone by here they have not gone out of their way for him.
These lads have been my saving grace this past 10 days they have been fantastic and caring and more than I could have hoped for.
Just wanted to point out that not all kids are like what you describe, please give them a break

Recently, I was driving when I saw an old man lying in the middle of the road. So I stopped my car and went to see if he was ok.
I stopped as close to the man as I could, and half on the pavement so cars could still get past.
But whilst I was clearly helping the old man, who was bleeding heavily, I had people shout things to me about where I'd stopped my car. (they could still get past, but had to do it carefully).
So yeah, I can see why people don't get involved in things. It's because everyone is selfish.Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

It's a fact of life that children fall out of trees, fall off their skateboards/bikes, get scrapes on their knees and even rip their clothes. (i've got the scars to prove it!)
It teaches them to be more careful in future.
Unless they need an ambulance (knocked unconscious, broken limb, profuse bleeding) they would get a cheery 'it'll be alright before you get married' from the folks around here and they'd walk past. No 'diddums' and 'poor little mite' from this neighbourhood. In fact the kids would be mortified to be caught crying and skricking like softies.
Kids seem to have at least nine lives. If I had to run and soothe every one of them I'd never get to work. They seem to be as tough as old boots from their collisions and that's how it should be.
Your son is a big boy at 11 - he's nearly a teenager - and you expected people to pick him up?
He could pick himself up, couldn't he?
He's got a few scrapes on his hands, face and elbow. So what?
It's not a drama - it's part of life.
Tell him to pick up feet or do up his shoelaces!
Is it just me or are parents treating their near-teens like big babies? :think:0 -
I was in my local supermarket some time ago.., a child was obviously distressed and lost.., I knew I was probably taking risks but did go over and talk to her, and take her to a shop assistant. But I was very very nervous of being accused of something untoward at the same time too.
I did do some voluntary work in a school (IT class). There was one little girl (it was a class full of 7 year olds) who became very distressed because her pc had frozen, I gave her a quick hug and sorted her pc out but was told the school had a 'no touch' policy. I didn't go back as I just could not leave a child who doesn't understand why such policies exist feeling distressed. Sometimes I feel like the world has gone mad.0 -
QuackQuackOops wrote: »People dont stop to help anymore because of the injured people and/or their families themselves.
There was a nurse at our hospital who had stopped to help a man who had collapsed. She did what she could but he later died. She was then sued for making matters worse by the family, so all nurses were banned from helping out on the streets.
There have also been numerous examples of injured people sueing those who helped them.
Unless you have done something truly unreasonable there is no way someone who stops to help or administer first aid will he successfully sued by anyone.0 -
I had a scary incident a few months back when I was driving along and came across two toddlers in the road (no adults in sight). The two cars in front of me just drove around them!
I stopped and got them back on the pavement and was just trying to work out what the heck to do next when their mum came rushing out of her garden. Apparently her teenager left the gate open and she hadn't realized they were missing.
At least I got a thank you.
People are usually horrified for me when I admit I help people but even with the thought of being sued I just wouldn't be me anymore if I walked on by and didn't at least check if people wanted a hand.0 -
So let's get this straight, your thread about your Son being bullied was pulled because some sad people thought you MIGHT be making it up?
This site is rapidly going down the cr!!per with moderators making decisions like that. Power hungry springs to mind.Pants0 -
I live in East London and my first thought was: Did he fall or was he beaten up?
I ask because its a new term and it happens all the time in London.
If this was the case maybe he was embarrassed to say and falling over was the safer option.
Then at the end of the thread I read about the 'Bullied' thread ??
Just a thought.
