One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.

  • Could some of this be down to where you live? We stay in a rural area and during the winter time an OAP slid and fell on the ice on the pavement at the junction. The first car pulled in and driver jumped out while we (and presumably) others looked to see if any further help was needed before driving on. I would help children if they were hurt/lost, but that could be because I'm a teacher.
    Making small changes everyday....
  • I think it's so sad that society has come to this. I would always try to help someone in need whether it be a child or an elderly person. If it was me I would hope that some kind stranger would stop for me if I needed it.

Recently I was in a restaurant and going upstairs in a corridor to the toilet and a man was coming down, I had stupidly high heels on and tripped and I could tell he was unsure whether to help me. As it happened I put my hand out to stop myself and ended up putting it on his urrmmm...man bits:o so I suppose if you wanted to be funny you could say that I assulted him! I apologised a million times and made my escape very quickly!
  • Surely if you're a teacher, you're well educated in the paranoia in our society?

  • I dont care what people percieve me as, if a child is hurt or lost I will help them, twice I have gone over to crying children at car boot sales (me and mum were selling) and comforted them until the parent came, no I wont pick them up or take them over to our stall, but i will hold their hand and stand with them until mum appears. If some idiot manages to find any peadophilia in that then they are off their rocker.

I'm also trained in 1st aid so will help people in need, missed my bus home from college once to help someone having an epileptic fit
I'm not a bloke! :rotfl:My real name is Sinead, Sid is my nickname :rotfl:

  • Awwww poor little lad. Sorry to hear he has been in the wars and that no-one stopped to help OP. I think it is a sad indicetment of society now. People are either to busy to stop and help someone in need or to afraid to approach a child they dont know in case their actions are misconstrued.

I am 19 and I see the lack of caring these days. Everytime a child falls I jump even if the parent is already there and wouldnt hesitate to go help a child otherwise.

Reminds me of a friends granny who fell last christmas AND NOT ONE of the many cars that drove past stopped to help a old lady with a broken arm and lieing on the floor.

Really does make me sad. I suppose the only hope I have is that I shall bring up any children I have in the future to always put themselves before others

Jennysmith, please forgive me if I sound patronising, I don't mean to. :o But I am so pleased that there is someone of your tender age with sense. Please do bring up your children to care for others. There is a whole generation of kids who care for nothing except themselves - not their fault, this is due to society thinking we can make better kids by languishing them with 'love' (stuff), not instilling a sense of guilt or concience etc.

It is only through the younger generation with values like yours that there is a possibility of teaching children to care for others too.
