    Morning all,
Quick update before I jump up and get ready for work.
Thanks for popping in u_r and lianne!
LL your a right about completely stripping back and overpaying too much too quickly, I'm trying to take this a lot slower than I did last time because I will only end up leaving myself short for the month.
Made a payment of 20.00 to cr*pital one this morning, along with my other small PAD's I plan to do. balance should be sub 400 by next week
Am taking lunch to work today, I refuse to spend money in the canteen.
Also I realised that I still have my small cc in my purse so that will be swiftly removed! Fair enough it's only got a 350 balance so can't do too much damage, but I don't want to be going backwards on this journey so it will be removed from temptation.
Have decided to add my savings into my signature, I know about having debt (particularly at the astronomical rates that mine are) and savings but I feel better having a safety net, Ive got into a right pickle once before after loosing my job and not having a scrap of savings and don't ever want to be in that kind of situation again.
Will tot up my savings after work and add them to my siggy

Have a great day everyone ( it's almost Friday!)

    Morning mse'rs!
Had the day from absolute hell yesterday, had a bad day before work, during work and after work!! Not going to dwell on it though! Deep breath and move on!
eBay payment has hit cap 1, yesterday's 20.00 should hit tomorrow or Monday.
All eBay items have bids on! So happy about that.
Spent a few pennies yesterday so not to happy about that. All necessary though I might add!
    22.00 in m&s on food
9.00 in boots (was a medical thing, can't get cheaper/on perscription)
45.00 next (boots and a top for DD, essentials for winter) hoping OH gives me some money to offset DD's stuff.

Will not be doing any more spending this week at all.

So glad it's Friday, can't wait for a few days off. Me and OH have decided that we need to improve the security of the house so in the coming weeks/months will be looking at doing the following...
Install security light at the front
Replace security light at the back
Install new lantern next to front door
Buy a padlock for back gate
Gates with padlock for driveway (this ones going to be expensive!)

Also next year when we do the back garden, we have a "patio" area that's been flagged I really wanted to get that part decked but I may look into getting nice gravel stones as I've heard they deter bugulars???? Thinking gravel will be cheaper as well!

So next step is to call an electrician, have no idea of how much it will cost but it's a small price to pay if it stops your house/car from being broken into.

Thanks for dropping by lianne, you have done brilliantly with your debt I can't wait to clear my loan like you have, how long did it take you?
Have no plans today other than to take DD to her dance class. Going to aim for another NSD.
Sorted some of my shoes to eBay, as it's free listing I'm going to be a bit cheeky and start the auctions a little bit higher than normal. They are kurt ge!ger and office and some of them have only been worn once so hoping they all sell.
OH really annoying me when it comes to money, he is going on about getting an expensive car and is saying we should pay monthly 50/50. Hoping I don't sound mean but hear my reasons for not wanting to.....
    1) we have a perfectly fine car that we own outright worth about 4k
    2) I earn less than him so why 50/50
    3) if he wants to buy a frivolous item that will put us into debt he should get a second job to pay for it.
    4) the payments for the car would be 50/50 but usage wouldn't.
    5) I wont get a say in picking the car but he wants me to pay half.

What bugs me is that as OH had almost no debt he could afford it from his wages if he wants to, I assumed as he was asking me for half the money he didn't want to ring fence x amount of wages for a car.
This is when I suggested second job, as he has the option of working with a friend for an extra 100 per week, he looked at me like i had two heads???!!!!!!!!!???
THEN.... We were driving through a beautiful area not far from our house and he declared he would like to live there. I said I would too but if we were serious about moving we would have to start saving hard for a mortgage deposit. ( we are in a rental contract with our house till 2013, after that we have the option of buying and we could then rent it out) And not be buying expensive cars. He then got in a big huff and sulked like a baby!!! What's wrong with him? Ha can't have his cake and eat it, were not rich and I work part time for gods sake. If we continue as we are till 2013 hopefully I will have cleared most of my debt, DD will be in full time school, i can go and work full time, ( he should take the second job but thats another story!) and we can look at moving and buy our forever home.
Gosh that was a rant but he makes me soo angry! Why can't he see the bigger picture??

Hi Yellow! My loan was about the same level as yours and I managed to pay it off in about a year and a bit (I was able to pay overpayments though!). It was a weird feeling paying off the loan, I had a mixture of achievement and disappointment! Disappointment in that all my debt wasn't paid off. TBH I think I was just exhaused with being so obsessed with MSE! I came across your diary and it gave me a wee boost to start focussing on the other bits of my debt - so thanks!! My DD is 3 in about 10 weeks and will be starting nursey so I guess that part of your story struck a chord with me!

I'm hoping to clear my loan in under 2 years by making overpayments, getting rid of the cards first as they are all on stupid rates and I don't have the option of switching.
Can't wait for the loan to go, it's an absolute mill stone around my neck and since I've gone part time it's over a third of my wages!!!
I'm soo annoyed at the moment i tried to list on eBay and apparently I've reached my selling limits!! Grrrr. I've got so wait for 2 small amounts to hit my acc or summit... V.annoying!
So I'll just keep all my bits for the next free weekend and list them then.

Anyhoo I'll just have to relax with xfactor and downton yey!

    Xx

well done on the NSD and not throwing the computer out the window after the Ebay notice!!
2 years will go by in a flash!
my only word of caution (or whatever it would be termed!) is to not pay it off too fast in case it forces you to put other spending onto cards or overdraft. I thnk thats why I'm so disappointed with my credit cards as I feel as it they just appeared out of no-where, when really their balance grew from a few months where we had a few "emergency" things!

have you worked out a budget yet? Does your OH know about your debt and if so is he willing to contribute at all?

    Enjoy Xfactor! x
