As did that so called 5 star full service airline Qatar to me a year past April. And it certainly wasn't a tenner flight.
As did almost all the full service scheduled airlines a year past April.
If you are alluding to the ash cloud problems, where is your proof that MOST airlines left passengers high and dry when this happened. It was a monumental headache for all airlines, and I was caught up in it in Vegas. BA were on the ball with me, paid my hotel bill and paid for meals. Got me on the first available flight back, no problems here. In fact the one airline to publicly tell it's customers to bollix was Ryanair, until they did a backtrack when it got too much bad press.
Oh yes, now they charge you 2 quid for the privilege as well.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

Okay I'm really chuffed with this service I have to say, at least in the subjective way since I use Ryanair a lot.

First off I paid with a debit card, so I loaded with £156.

I ordered it on Monday and it arrived today, Wednesday. To the person on here who thought that Ryanair/Raphael would stretch out the delivery date to overlap 14th October/1st Novemeber, it didn't - it took 2 working days to be on my doormat!

The activation number was free and took 60 seconds, PIN was given.

The voucher is numeric to be imputted against next flight and is valid for 6 months from purchase date.

Two things I wonder about though. It does not have my name on the card, it just says 'CURRENCY CARD'. Now all my other prepaids do have my name and when it comes to booking or buying online (until March 2012 as far as retailers are concerned) what do I put in the name (as appears on card) bit? Anyone had that before?

Secondly, no ID was taken at any stage, which is worrying, since they may have ran a table 2 check or something and that is not a process I trust in when it comes to DCA's (Issues with Experian giving table 2 data to Wescot who they own!!!!). I did not read the T&C's, so not whining, but do wonder as I have always had to scan in my passport, driving licence etc.

Unlike some prepaids, it is valid for three years and I have had only two on some before which I suspected Ryanair would want to gather £6 fees sooner on renewal (but they will have a new payment method by then!!).

Overall very happy. Note again the subjective nature (it amazes me how many people seem to think their argument is conclusive) as, for me, I will take out £80, feel no sting re the £2) and leave £68 as that will last me a good few journeys and I will have paid none of the £12's. This card was free, to me.

Leaves the small matter of remaining balances. Well I may top it up again, or take a 50p and buy something online, careful to use it at least once every six months which will be a walk in the park.

Any prepaid card that can be bought and collected in a shop will not have your name embossed so it is not unusual. Just put your name as it appears on your other cards.

I thought these prepaid Ryanair cards were not available until tomorrow??

Typical Ryanair, arrived early as usual.

Just thought I'd pop-in on my way to Stansted for what will no doubt be another on-time departure and early arrival with Ryanair, and all for under a tenner all in. Then another even cheaper flight tomorrow.
    Works for me.

As predicted, both on time both arrived early. Works for me.
  • So can you earlybirders confirm which debit cards work for loading this card without incurring a cash advance surcharge ? Barclays, HSBC, Smile, Lloyds, Nationwide, Halifax, RBS, Cahoot, Citi, Santander, for example?

I used Halifax Easycash (electron) - no charge. :D

Just got my card today (I ordered it on Monday night) and tested it in a shop and it worked. However the Co-Op Bank ATM didn't allow me to change the PIN or access the balance.

Try Santander. I changed my PIN and checked the balance with no problem.
