Just bought mine, hope is does come within 3 days as I am moving! I swear it said it would ask for documents such as driving licence/passport details but it never did. Maybe it will later upon activation.

I will report any problems. :D

I ain't ever paying his cruddy card fees, I will use the £6 voucher, I will keep a balance on and so on....

Whilst not the greatest, at least there is a 0845 number to call with any problems since it isn't a Ryanair card per se, because I think he would prefer a £1 a minute line. Having said that I am a fan of Ryanair.... too many flights to count and half of Europe seen on a shoestring!!

I thought these prepaid Ryanair cards were not available until tomorrow??
  • This new card trick is so very very wrong.

Herding thousands of customers to lend Ryanair a minimum £150 over the next month or so is a disgraceful tactic.

And if the report that no ID is sought in order to get a card issued is true then that is an additional disgrace, opening up anyone whether they have any interest in Ryanair or not to ID Fraud.

Ryanair/Raphaels even barefacedly warn that our own banks or card issuers may levy a cash advance fee when we load the card as part of the application process.

"There are no card handling fees charged if you choose to pay by Debit Card or Visa Credit Card. If you wish to pay by MasterCard ® Credit Card, we will levy a handling fee of 1.5% of the order value (min £4.00 - max £15.00). This will be shown within your order summary. If you choose to pay by either MasterCard, Visa Credit Card or Visa Debit Card, your card issuer may apply a cash advance charge which will be shown separately on your Credit Card/Bank statement."

If you aren't a very frequent Ryanair flyer, is this card really worth all the kerfuffle?

  • Well I am a frequent Ryanair flyer and I am just so totally annoyed with the additional risks they are exposing me to against my will, plus I am gobsmacked by their blatant introduction of anti-competitive behaviour into the card market. No card issuer except Raphaels Bank has the facilkity to provide the customer with a Ryanair transaction that saves a Ryanair arbitrary fee.

This business will get out of control. It will get out of control and we will be lucky if the OFT or CAA have the b¤lls to kill it dead... (with apologies to Admiral Josh Painter)

You'll have to do your own assessment 2sides2everystory to decide if you want to have their card or just pay the £6 and use a credit card with cashback or points. I'm a very infrequent ryanair flyer, about once every 18 months, and have decided their card ain't for me.

2sides2, you feel very strong on this issue and others, I've suggested it before and will repeat that I think you should engage with your political representatives and the OFT and CAA and Irish Aviation Authority on this and other air travel issues to make your voice known.

Just thought I'd pop-in on my way to Stansted for what will no doubt be another on-time departure and early arrival with Ryanair, and all for under a tenner all in. Then another even cheaper flight tomorrow.
    Works for me.

One day, believe me, it won't work for you.

Ryanair will strand you somewhere, they'll offer you no help at all, it'll cost you several hundred pounds to sort out the mess they've left you in, and you'll rue the day you ever had anything to do with them.

Anyone is free to use another carrier or alternative mode of transport.
I really don't get the issue here.

RyanAir takes me to my usual destination cheaply and quickly (especially from March to October).

I haven't got time or money to waste to use a different mode of transport.

But I do wish I didn't have to waste a couple of hours (again) to apply for yet another card.

As I said before, thanks to those who will not get this new card, it'll keep fares under 10 quids for some of us, which is not bad to fly 1000 miles...

As did that so called 5 star full service airline Qatar to me a year past April. And it certainly wasn't a tenner flight.
As did almost all the full service scheduled airlines a year past April.
