All my flight bookings start from spain,.so will i be charged 5.75% for all my bookings in euros?...or will i select the currency on screen to pounds?....that way i will pay more as euros cost less than pounds but the price in euros/pounds displayed for the flights is the same.

One way or the other you will be stuffed....

    Either
    - you will pay in pounds and thus pay a higher price; or
    - you will pay in euros and pay a 5.75% fee on top (this is to get back the losses made after people became aware of their dire euro exchange rates - see loads of past postings!).

Even by Mr O'Sleazy's standard this latest move takes the biscuit....

Don't see Polish Big Spender and the other apologists out in force either - perhaps they see the writing on the wall for this cowboy company - if O'Sleazy had wanted to guarantee OFT action he couldn't have picked a better course of action!

Why, oh why does anyone still want to fly with Ryanair?? I have never understood this. I never have and never would touch that airline with a bargepole, their whole attitude to customers stinks and this shows in everything they do. Granted, if there is no other airline flying from where you need to fly to and from you have a problem. However, there ARE other airlines that 'do what it says on the tin'. Give them a try and you may well find that they work out no more expensive or very little more expensive than Ryanair by the time they would have ripped you off with all the hidden extras. It really is high time that Ryanair was boycotted, it's the only thing that works!
  • I hate 'ambush' billing. Ryanair are like something I sometimes tread on in the street.

Now, the card fee on all cards except their own card and on top of everything else including the smaller hand baggage size compared with the rest of the airline world is aimed at catching people out and getting more revenue's.

Their smaller baggage size is in the print, however, when 999 airlines have a standard size and Ryanair has a smaller size, it catches people out and they end up paying extra (a lot extra if they've already checked in!).

I have a Cabin Max suitcase and ruck sack and they fit into every airlines 'hand baggage size checker' but not Ryanairs!

I won't travel with them for these and a whole list of other reasons. What goes around comes around and they will one day regret their arrogant and misleading (99p fares) one day.

Fascinating Aida's "Cheap Flights" musical comic sketch on YouTube (and their new DVD) aimed at an airline with so called 99p fares (I wonder if that's Ryanair) is bang on :D.

Well, it really does depend on your destination. In my case, you can multiply the Ryanair price (including fees) by 2 or 3 easily. I did travel with Ryanair to Brussels for £25, including fees (and the price of the airport shuttle to Brussels "proper"), and never paid more than compared to £190, the cheapest price for the alternative BMI, which, btw, I used to fly with for many many years, but they really pushed their prices far too high. The most I paid with Ryanair was £150 compared to BMI who was offering £360!!!! And I'm not rich enough to ignore that!
  • We should all stick 2 fingers up at them and fly with other companies.

I recently booked a week in Spain thru Low cost Holidays not until the booking was made and paid for did I find out the flight was with Ryanair. I was taken ill and unable to go on holiday the Insurance company want proof and Ryna air will only talk to the client (me) they then charged me £17 before they would issue a cancellation invoice saying I could claim this back from the insurance company, they have told me I can't!!!!!!!!!!!! So much for Ryanair never again

I Have taken to checking the B.A. price before I make a booking. I booked a return flight from Gatwick to Malaga for less than either Ryanair or Easyjet were charging. Not only will I be saving money I will be travelling in comfort.

I dont like Ryanair and their complictaed pricing structure but I am not so sure you will be more comfortable with BA. I have just returned from Vegas on a BA 747, it was horrendous as the air con wasnt working it was like spending 11 hours in a sauna
  • To me it seems terrible that they are allowed to hide charges in such a blatant way. They manage to get listed at the top of most searches, because most of the time you want to sort by "cheapest-first". This is about as anti-competitive as you can get.
    • It is unfair to other airlines that get overlooked for being lower down search results (despite potentially being as cheap or cheaper after all the hidden charges).
    • It is unfair to customers who are trying to use the internet to find the best deals, but are consistently misled.
    • A huge number of flights are found and bought through meta-search engines that return results in this way.
I've been trying to avoid Ryanair for a while now, as I just find them a horrible company to deal with (I guess it's difficult to be friendly to customers when you know the company you work for is dishonest, tight-fisted and inethical).
This latest move to enforce using their cards makes me even less likely to choose them.
As for price being the bottom line, on several occasions I've found other airlines to be as cheap/cheaper. As a rule of thumb, I double any initial price quoted for a Ryanair flight. It saves time.

If by "i double the initial price" means going from £9 to £18 it still seems a good deal.....my flights at £9 mostly cost £6 more for the check-in and £2 more for the ash cloud..so a £9 flight costs me £17.
sometimes free check-in and sometimes no £2 ash fee,so £9 all in.
    For £s i mean euros.........so slightly cheaper.

To make it clear,i can and do fly at the drop of a hat,i only fly if the fare is less than a starting price of 21.99 with NO taxes,i fly around 20/30 times a year and start my journey from spain, but i fully understand people that have to fly on definate dates and very rarely can take advantage of the promotional fares.
