MSE News: Ryanair 'sticks two fingers up at passengers' with new card fees

One day - hopefully soon - Ryanair will need to draw its customers from the whole of society, rather than just a section of it. At the moment it can get away with alienating a large section of the population (like me) who simply won't use Ryanair under any circumstances. The posts above indicate that it's quite a chunk of people now that avoid this 'airline'.
At the moment there are enough people who have no problem with Ryanair to fill their planes - but it would only take something like an accident, or a particularly bad PR story, to change that. Then O'Leary might realise that it wasn't such a clever idea to cut the potential market by perhaps a third or more by behaving like a bunch of cowboys.
May that happy day of realisation come soon. There'll be an awful lot of people laughing their socks off. :rotfl:0 -

It is ALWAYS well worth while looking at other airlines including national carriers such as BA because their all inclusive prices are very competitive and are simple to understand. Plus they take you to useful airports with excellent onward links at reasonable prices unlike Ryanair that will dump you at some God-forsaken airport miles from the city it tries to convince you that it serves. All these extra costs soon add up to become more than the national or regional airlines.
But-
1) From how many UK airports can BA fly you directly to continental Europe?
2) From how many UK airports can Ryanair fly you directly to continental Europe?0 -

I did the same with SAS (Scandinavian Airlines) to gothenburg it worked out only 20 quid more than Ryanair and got an allocated seat and a sandwich! and my seat reclined!!! nor was it made of plastic.0 -

Does make you wonder doesn't it? I heard they get their planes serviced in Lithuania or Latvia or somewhere because its cheaper whether its true or not I don't know but I wouldn't put it past them. One accident and they will be finished, lets hope that never happens and there is another way to make them offer a service to customers and staff alike.0 -
I haven't read the whole thread but agree travel pricing is getting frustrating, it can be a nightmare trying to compare pricing as you have no way of knowing the actual costs until the last step.freeoffers wrote: »Vote with the wallet. I started off using an electron card then the MasterCard prepaid card but I refuse to use their own card. I don't think the airline is that bad but its not as cheap as everyone makes out. Yes, price is important, but I don't want to have to travel 75km to the city centre after getting to the airport.
Yep, this needs to be thought of too. Its not just the cost of the flights, the departure and arrival airport are often more out of the way as well. I was recently looking for flights to Stockholm, Ryanair were the cheapest but don't go to the main airport but to one about 50km away, when I factored in transport costs from the airport Ryanair only worked out £2 cheaper, I flew with a nice airline with food, newspapers and drinks provided. The flight was at a much more sociable time and we saved a lot of time getting to and from both the departure and arrival airports. It was £2 well spent.0 -

In fairness, Ryanair seats are leather. Also, non-reclinign seats are a good thing on short-haul as it stops some asshat needlessly dropping their seat into your lap. Best all-round if everybody sits upright.
You're paying for the sandwich anyway, so I'd prefer to pick one up on Pret before boarding and eat something nice rather than the crap airline one.
Ryanair are far from perfect, but they are cheap and they have a great punctuality record.Titch0 -
If anyone from Ryanair reads these posts-Will it stop us flying with you?
For me, probably yes.
Why not advertise full price and "out" other airlines on their charges-you can still be cheap as you can with prices upfront!!!(I dare them to use that tagline on their next adverts)Wins this year-1 month's supply of Unilever products,2 4oD film rentals, £5 e-bay credit, Goodreads book, Hotel Chocolat egglet.
Freebies-Dishwasher tabs, Ideal home tix, Ascot Tix,£10 Thompson&&Morgan Voucher,Grand design tix.
Starting small and thinking BIG!!:)0 -

Ryanair's servicing is done in...
wait for it...
Dublin and Prestwick.
That's right, the UK and Ireland. To the same standards as every other airline in the same countries. (Indeed in Europe, since standards are common across ALL EU states as regulated by the European Aviation Safety Agency. Including Latvia and Lithuania, actually.) I can't put it any simpler than this: if an airline doesn't adhere to top-notch safety standards it cannot fly into or within European Union airspace. No exceptions.
I hate that people are wishing serious accident to an aeroplane, 'to teach them a lesson'. If anything, Ryanair is fully aware that any single accident will cause irreparable damage to their brand, and as a result if anything are likely to take even more care than others would. MoL has always said the one thing he would never do 'on the cheap' is safety, and I believe him.0 -

If you go on U-tube you can see it.
It is very funny and sums up this band of latter day !!!!!! Turpins exactly.

What would be wrong with Ryanair servicing its planes in these countries?longjohn9394 wrote: »One accident and they will be finished.
Is it not the case other airlines have had more accidents than Ryanair and are still flying?0
