I got a machine from them back in 2007 & had been very pleased with them until today
I just phoned them to book a service they said i have to get it there, was told they stop this but i said so told them i have it in writting that they do under their extended warranty but it would stop me possible buying in the future
With that the time frame for them to collect went from June to July & everytime i said something a further month was added on
I am not very happy & i would never recommend them again as in the past i had at every turn as i thought they were a good company
The machines are not that cheap or at least the ones i have been looking at plus the guy on the phone said they under new management well they need another change with the attitude of the staff & their company you think with the down turn they bend over backwards to keep their customers happy0 -
Yes, I tried to buy on line a singer sewing machine. I was then asked to ring for the 20% discount on offer during the queen's diamond Jubilee celebrations. I was then told by the gentleman who took the order on the phone that delivery would be on Friday the 8th of |June between 9am and 6pm. This did not happen. When I called after 6pm to find out what had happened, the same man who took the order and my money for the order, told me that he was just answering cooper's phone from a call centre and I was to ring on Monday (11th) as the office was closed except to take orders.
I rang today to find out why the delivery did not take place. The company tried to fob me off that the delivery man said he tried a delivery but was unsuccessful as he was unable to gain access( what a joke!) I was the promised a delivery today and up until this time of writing (8.45pm) I am still waiting for the delivery with no news as to what is happening so I have just emailed them to cancel the order and refund me the money I paid for the machine and i have sent copies of my email to Essex trading standards commission and my solicitor to deal with this fraudulent practice.0 -
I hope you get a refund, i think that they have gone downhill as 4 1/2 years ago & even up to a 18 months never had a problem so not sure if they got new staff or what
It would be interesting to know if the people who go to their shop in person have such a bad time of it0 -
Yes, I have just purchased the Toyota ESS224 from them.
I had a webchat with one of their assistants, told them what I would like the machine to do and they recommended the one I then purchased.
I could have had it delivered the next day but deferred delivery until the Friday when I knew I would be at home all day. Unfortunately, the machine that arrived was not the one I ordered. I immediately telephoned Coopers who assured me that they would get this remedied immediately. Within minutes another person telephoned me back firstly apologising for the mistake saying she had mistakenly ordered the wrong one from Toyota (easy mistake to make as it was next to the one I wanted on their website and was the same price). She then said that the incorrect machine would be collected on Monday and that the correct one would also be delivered though not necessarily by the same person.
Monday arrived the machine was collected. I telephoned to confirm that the correct machine was going to be delivered that day. They telephoned me back confirming it was definitely out for delivery and gave me a tracking number. No sooner had I put the phone down and the machine arrived together with the free gifts bundle.
I have now used the machine and it is everything I wanted, bearing in mind that up until now I had been using my grandmother's 1928 Singer hand sewing machine so I really did need good advice before I purchased a modern one.
All in all I can only say that Coopers have been everything I could have asked for with the service, advice and competitive pricing of the machine.
Thank you.0 -
Glad you got the mistake sorted as i had said up to this year i not had a problem with them
I will ask do you have a extended warranty plus them picking up & bring back the machine for free as they said they stopped that when i phoned but i had it in writting they do this so they have to honour it0 -
I had such a bad and horrific customer sales experience that it actually put me off the singer product itself.
Wanted to buy a gift to my wife and but was shocked by the horrific experience i had with singerdirect.co.uk also known as Coopers Sewing machines
I called and asked for the offers available and the person was so rude and in such a hurry to close the phone. So I thought maybe they are busy and so I will chat. They asked me to call back and enquire about the product. Again the chat was closed like there is a mad rush.
I called back and was told that the Singer 7463 machine is out of stock. I asked about the next model 7565 and the gentlemen gave me a different price and when I enquired he said whatever is on their website and that’s it. The phone was put down!!
There are two models 7465 and 7465 Quilters dream for 229 and 249 respectively. But the sale rep was not bothered answering any queries.
I was surprised and then thought maybe they are having a busy time. Told my wife and asked her to call the next day. She got the same horrible and rude treatment with no support on what they advertised(warranty and service) on website and when asked about the product she was rudely told to go and check the website.
I decided to again chat online with them so asked if products in stock. Was told to call and check. I did and was told its sold out but I could get the next version 7467 for the same price; again in a rush. When i asked to confirm the price, was told whatever stated on website. I told that it is 229 or 249 and he said well 249. I asked what about 10% discount advertised on all orders and he said order online and shut the phone.
I was so shocked and went back to chat online and asked for managers number and told about the rude behaviour. I was given a number and rudely the chat was signed off.
I called and spoke to Mr cooper and he said why would be a sale rep be rude when he is working on commission. Now i explained the whole situation and he asked what product i am after. Then I was told that the last one was sold just now. ( and this is the new model they had in stock half an hour before)
I am so horrified from their rude behaviour and just wonder how anyone could buy anything from them specially when they advertise 15 years warranty and free service facility but not bothered to explain anything.0 -
When you think something is too good to be true it and coopers are proof of this reading other reviews you can see when machines are returned for a refund he tells you the machine was received damaged then provides picture for claiming , he obvioulsy has a stock of damaged machines using them time after time , he's a liar, he's a cheat and it beats me why hes not been closed down.
Fact of the matter is trading standards are toothless , despite having hundred of complaints he's still trading.
I blame the manufacturers that continue to supply him , if you are buying a machine, google it, find a shop with good reviews go see the machines, dont use mail order, the net. It's a mistake I made.0 -

Just watched Watchdog on sky+.
What a lying dishonest man "Mr Cooper" comes over as.
He really deserves to go out of business, just for the protection of consumers.====0 -
I bought a Silver machine direct from Coopers a couple of years ago after seeing the machine on Ideal World at almost twice the price that was on Coopers website.
I admit the warranty and the service did help sway me to buy from Coopers.
The machine came promptly even though I live in the scottish highlands, all the freebies were there and the machine works wonderfully.....so far
I just wanted to add a positive experience with Coopers!
I haven't had to have any further contact with Coopers though as the machine is still fabulous so I can't really comment on customer service other than what I experienced.
I was gobsmacked to see them on Watchdog last night. Jay Cooper was not the funny, gentle man I'd seen on Ideal World and I was disgusted to see how treated his customers. I'm kinda worried about having to deal with them in the future now and I'm going to be on tenterhooks every time I use the machine now.0
