As long as it's bread pudding, not bread and butter pudding, it will freeze well.

Um, what is bread pudding? I have experience of bread and butter pudding, but this sounds like an interesting new development;)

Hardly new :D . Bread pud is as old as the hills. It is simply breadcrumbs soaked to a mush, dried fruit, some sort of fat like melted butter, maybe an egg, sugar, spices. pour it into a greased baking dish and bake. nice cold like a cake or hot with custard.

Bread and butter pud is buttered sandwiches and dried fruit with eggs, milk/cream and sugar poured over and baked. Less solid and less portable than bread pud.

I need some advice, we had a small ham joint given too us in vacuum packed plastic, we took it out and put it in some water on Wednesday, but never got round to eating or cooking it.

I started it off cooking in the same water it was sitting in the fridge in and my OH came home and wasn't happy about that, so she changed the water.

What I want to know is, is it still going to be ok to eat. I normally go by the smell, but its hard to tell tbh. Doesn't smell off, I think.

  • obviously not wanting to throw it away.......

I bought a packet of frozen marinated salmon from Ikea the other day which says it should not be re-frozen. Even on the short journey back home it became slightly soft around the edges, but rock solid for most of the rest.
Then earlier this week we had a new floor done and the freezer was disconnected for about 6 hours - I then remembered the salmon and checked it immediately before the freezer was reconnected. Again it was in the same state - frozen rock-solid, apart from the edges.

So, should I eat it?? Can I trust my eyes/nose to tell me if it's good or not?

Luckily the other things in the freezer won't be affected by re-freezing!:o

I'd have no hesitation in eating it. In my view, as long as it smells OK it's not going to do you any harm.
  • hi all,

I have had a carton of UHT skimmed milk open in the fridge for 5-6 days. The carton says it will keep open for 3 days but i was wondering whether it would still be ok?

    Thanks,
    Hayley

You should have no problem at all, as long as it wasnt totally defrosted it will be fine.
