I would eat it as long as it doesn't smell now or whilst you are cooking it. When you buy meat from the butcher it doesn't have a sell by date so trust your own senses.:happylove DD July 2011:happyloveAug 13 [STRIKE]£4235.19[/STRIKE] £2550.00 :cool:0

MOVING THREADS FOR BETTER RESPONSES
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.0 -
I never risk it with chicken. I have had one bout of food poisoning brought on by chicken and it has made me more cautious. One or two days over I might chance it but not 4.0

I don't think you are supposed to wash chicken as if there are any bugs on it they are then in your sink/on your dishcloth to spread to other things.
Eating it is up to you but I would convince myself it smelt funny whilst cooking and then not want to eat it.The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
HI Woodtop
I think you will find most here are very relaxed about use by dates. However, personally i wouldn't eat chicken 4 days out of date. Only do it if you feel entirely comfortable with look and smell.
There is a useful thread where others also discuss food safety and use by dates
TheFoods Standards Agency website is a good source of information on food hygiene and safety.
Also you can see previous questions and discussions posted by other Old Stylers on this on this thread: Use by Dates
I'll add your thread to the first one later to keep the suggestions together
thanks
