    Hi Gill,

I've not kept up with all your diary doings but am so sorry to hear you lost your dear mum.

It really does turn the world upside down for a bit & however you feel is perfectly valid, no one else can say how you should feel.

I just carried on as best I could when I lost mine. I did have a bit of a melt down some months later, but with a short course of meds & some counselling I got back on the right path & actually feel a stronger & wiser person for having lived through that.

Your job sounds very exciting, I really like the sound of fleeting visits all over the country & I like driving too. At one point I thought that being a long distance lorry driver would be fun ... seeing the sights & having that little space in the cab to snuggle down in :o

    Enjoy your telly day :)
    xx

Just watching practice on the red button - I think I am addicted!

Thanks Lula, I do like driving!

We all deal with these things differently; mine is to get involved in the practical stuff. What will happen when all the practical things are done is anyone's guess.

One of the other pieces of post that arrived this week was a note from an old friend inviting me to a girls night in next week, so have that to look forward to. Scary to think that we met at college; we've gone through so much together.

Five hours in Friday rush hour is not fun, but the rest of it sounds great! Well, going to your mum's to finish up the bits and pieces, no .... did she live in a council place? You don't have the issues about selling it?

Loving the sound of a chippy tea - you can't beat a good fish and chip shop!

  • Hi KC
yes Mum lived in rented accommodation, so at least we haven't got that hassle.

She sold the 3 bed semi after Dad died, and decided that she didn't want the responsibility of repairs etc. She'd have been sitting on a lovely nest egg, if things had gone differently.

Fish and chips! I wasn't going to have any, but when I got there I couldn't resist!

    Sounds good! I hope today's nice :)
2023: the year I get to buy a car
  • Yesterday was a very odd day.

We went to Mum's to see what was left, its amazing how much *carp* you can get into a 'pensioners' bungalow. So we loaded our cars with the rest of the bric-a-brac. All that was left then, was the stuff brother wanted, and other things that we weren't sure whether he'd want or not. Somehow we had the idea that brother was coming over to collect the things he wanted. When we rang him at lunchtime, he wasn't even in the country!

He turned up at sisters at around 6 and somehow thought that she would have brought his things. How was she meant to get a glass display cabinet over 6 ft tall into a Ford Fiesta! He drives a big estate car,so easier for him.

I left them to sort it out; I've got enough to do sorting my own house out.

Today, we will go for an hour and just make sure everything is secure, collect some plants from the garden etc.

Then I'm going to watch the Singapore GP - no surprises who is on pole, but I hope the championship isn't won this weekend. That sort of thing happened with Michael Schumacher, and it sort of makes the rest of the season meaningless. There are 5 races after this, and its more fun if it goes down to the wire.

    Good morning

Sorting through stuff is yet another step along the path. It is really tough, my sister & I were tasked ( by my dad) of sorting through mums clothes, make up & jewellery etc which was tough in itself & yet somehow it's often the non personal items that hold memories. Dad still lives in the same house & when we visit, it's often a vase, picture or just the crockery that we use that can trigger off a memory.

I wont even get started on just how unequal the contribution of labour from my siblings was ... suffice to say it has brought me a lot closer to one.

Plants are a great way to keep on caring & reminding us that we are always propelled forwards to keep on living, even when times seem a bit bleak & are tough. I hope today is a bit easier for you.

I've not followed every race this year but completely agree that it's much more fun when the competition is open til the last race :D

Don't start me on the inequality thing. As many know, I had very little support for the last 6 months or so, but since starting this new job my sister has picked up the pieces, and you'd think she was Mother Theresa!

Brother has now decided not to take the cabinet, as it holds no memories for him.
    Fine.
But why wait until now to decide? We now have no way of moving it, its not worth hiring a van to move just one item.

    :mad:Families!!

Plants - do you think there's time for me to dig my spuds up out of her garden?

Hope everyone has a good day!

Argh! about your brother and the flipping cabinet! Talk about awkward ... maybe he should be the one that moves it, since he's the one that changed his mind about wanting it ....

I agree with Lula (and you!) plants are a brilliant way of keeping a memory alive - and I'm sure you've got time to dig your spuds up. When do you have to hand keys back? Can you play with the spuds today, or are you supposed to leave them a bit longer?
2023: the year I get to buy a car
  • KC - I have no idea about the spuds! I usually dig some, and see if they are OK. We are due to hand the keys back on Friday, but if we hand them back by tomorrow we don't pay this weeks rent. Balance - spuds v extra weeks rent. I'll do some digging and see.

If I hold your coat, will you speak to my brother?
