Time for a new diary.
Previous diary here
I've been on these forums a while, took some advice, ignored some. I started my previous diary nearly 2 years ago, when I lost my job.
Since then lots has happened.
I've been unemployed, did lots of part time jobs to make ends meet. Then in March last year I started contract work. Since then I haven't looked back and last month started a new, full time, salaried job.
I have met some wonderful people on here, and have been fortunate enough to meet some of them in RL too.
In the middle of all this, I was supporting my Mum whose health started to deteriorate; sadly she passed away a few weeks ago.
So this is my new start.

Current signature - in case I forget where I've come fromTotal debt as at LBM £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE]113342-Credit cards left 1- balance £1214.76 (APR 0%)
So I've paid £15,000 off the debt, have cleared the mortgage arrears, got rid of all loans other than the secured loan, and have one remaining credit card.
I am concentrating on the mortgage as that seems to be the thing that will help me most.
Other things; I have a 24 year old son, who lives at home. He is currently unemployed, having been laid off, but earns enough doing odd DJ jobs that he keeps himself.
My new job means that I am away a lot, staying in hotels.

I have read the posts now. I recently reread your diaries and the progress is amazing and I was so impressed with what you were prepared to do to get through the tough times. I know it is emotionally tough for you at the moment but financially and jobwise you have certainly turned a corner and long may it continue - I am looking forward to the next chapter and I am so glad we have been able to meet a few times - but boy do we talk
Looking forward to October's meet. Take care of yourself.

Hi - glad you found me.
Italian GP was good! But did get a bit fed up with Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher.
Today we have sorted the freezer out; so tonights tea is a mish mash of part opened packages. Bits of potato wedges, with some peppers and stir fried chicken.
We've also been shopping, so there is plenty of food, together with the Approved Food stuff should be fine for a while.
There is also the question of whether I have room for Mum's freezer. An extra freezer would be useful, but I've just got rid of loads of stuff.
I am however going to arrange to swap my washing machine for Mum's. Mine is 13 years old (still working); hers is still under warranty. We can still arrange for the white goods to be taken by a local charity.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

 back
I watched the first half and the last couple of laps of the Grand Prix but missed most of the important overtakes due to having to pick up YS from a party
What I saw was good though definitely one of the grand prix's I would love to go to but as you know I would love to go to them all  a girl can dream

I found you too .... can't do my usual smileys or anything tonight, I'm hoping this gets onto the boards.
It really is amazing how much you turned your financial situation around while being turned down by the job market .... fantastically well done. And if DS can keep himself by doing DJing in this economic climate, it strikes me he's inherited your savvy!
I'm not surprised you've been completely in pieces this week - between actual events and anniversaries, it sounds hellish.
**subscribing** (ha, try and keep me away).
Another one looking forward to October.

That music sounds amazing. A very difficult week for you.
New diary, fresh start which is nice but remembering where you've come from and celebrating what you've achieved already. £15K is not easy to pay off - so well done you! It will be nice if you get some practical as well as sentimental things to remember your mother by.... I still remember my mum inheriting my grandad's car when he passed away but it was tremendously helpful to have a second card... We borrowed that car when I went on placement related to university and when we went on honeymoon I think he would have liked that...
Hope you can now focus on settling into your new role. Perhaps when things settle down again we could arrange to meet up again - and perhaps go for a drink somewhereAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Thanks all
I'm up at daft o'clock again, but this time on purpose as I'm off 'down south' - I have a sneaky feeling that this is when it will hit me, as I've been out of my normal routine for a while.
SH - yes definitely try to meet up when things are more settled. I pass *your* turn off on my way home from most places!
Hope everyone has a good day.

If it hits you, then it hits you. Run with it for as long as it takes as, in my experience, it is best to take the hit and get that bit out of the way than to try too hard to ignore it and "carry on as usual".
That said, getting back into a routine is often a really good way of working with all of this - sort of a practical reminder that life goes on for us. Maybe with a slightly different viewpoint, but life goes on.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. Thats a good point about it hitting you when you have to address your normal routine again .... so, like I said, be kind to yourself - snaffle some multivits from somewhere too .... hope the driving goes okay in this sort of weather - at least you're headed in the right direction - "sooth", as Pippi says2023: the year I get to buy a car0
