  • I think taking your camera out with you sounds a really positive idea.

Well done on all the sorting you've got done its amazing. I can remember when my MIL hired a skip and got rid of a lot of her DH's stuff after he passed away - at least you know the stuff where it was suitable has gone on to people who need it at low cost - and a charity has also benefitted.

I think I need some 'photo taking' lessons!

Anyhow, today I am in Derby, well at the moment I'm in a hotel just off the M1 but the principle is the same.
I'm shadowing a colleague and finding the process a bit slow tbh.

When I had the second interview for this job, it was suggested that most new starters are out on their own by six months, possibly by 3 months. That was to allow time for training etc.
So far I've been out on my own after 4 weeks and that would have been sooner if I hadn't been on bereavement leave. I suppose that shows that they are confident I can do it; whether I actually can or not remains to be seen!

Looking at my diary I will be in Scotland a fair bit in October and November, so that's definitely a new area for me as I've been to Edinburgh and Stirling (oh yes, and RAF Kinloss), but not to these particular areas.

Spending a fortune in petrol, but that's claimable, so need to get those claims in before it hits my pocket too much! At the moment I'm owed around £100.

Oh and :jfor hotels with free wi-fi!

  • Well, from the lovely scenery in rural Derbyshire, tonight I am in

    Slough!!!

Not quite the same somehow. Have a lovely view of a roundabout, and that's about it!

Oh yes and last night my work laptop automatically installed Internet Explorer 9, so now I can't access my company intranet as it isn't supported, so I can't put my expenses in until I can uninstall IE9.

Windows updates are such a pain! I knew there was a reason why I prefer Macs!!!

    Have replied to your pm.

Unfortunately because its a work PC I can't change the automatic updates. Because its a big corporate organisation, I think its a case of the left hand doesn't know what the right hands doing!

Strangely enough Manchester is on my list in the next few weeks, not sure where exactly you are though. But would love to meet you - I'll find the list and let you know.

For some reason 'multi-quote' wouldn't work:(

So far this week I have travelled 550 miles so yes its adding up a bit. And I've still got to get home!

I am really loving the job, and so far have met some lovely people.
Last week I was in Head Office a lot doing training, and was talking to one of the support staff about where I was due to go on Monday - Lancashire visit. The IT Manager there is apparently notoriously hard to please, and the support manager said "I'd laugh, but as I like you I'll just wish you luck". I think I did OK as they've stopped hassling support team.

Tomorrow I am doing my first system set up on my own, so keeping my fingers crossed.
