    Hi all

(((hugs))) to the sickies and those with sick littlies/OH etc. (I remember having viral pharyngitis, many years ago - not nice, so lots of sympathy there too)

Still windy outside here too. Boys are safely at school and I've just printed out my paperwork for a MS job later today. WM is on, DW will go on when I go downstairs and I'm about to put my tracky on and force myself into another 30 minutes of Davina! Did the cardio-pump one yesterday (I think that's what it's called) - the boxing type one, and I can certainly feel it in my shoulders this morning :D I'm going to pop into the library and see if they have that Vicky Entwistle one - I'd rather watch it first to see if it's worth buying.

Mr TM is away this w/e. Going down to South Wales to help his sister with some major decorating, so he's off straight after work. Don't know what I'll do this w/e - may take the boys to an activity centre I've just found out about, so at least they can run off some energy without getting blown/washed away :rotfl:

Need to pop into Mr T's on the way home - need milk and tinned fruit (that's my brekkie atm - lots of grapefruit, pineapple, lychees etc) Oh, and Lidl have their 1/2 price sale on their fruit and veg again. My fridge is bursting at the seams, so there will be lots of soup/roast veg/veggie lasagne's being made over the next couple of days.

Take care everyone, catch ya later

    TM xxx

ps DLB - I've been reading about your fence problem hun. Have I missed it? What did the old witch say when she came home and show us some pics of the new flowerbed please :D
  • Morning all,

Hugs to all who need them - I'm just glad it's Friday - no after school activities except ds1's Scouts and he can walk round the corner - and one of us can walk (stagger??) round to collect him after a glass or two of vino:D

I was talking to a friend yesterday who is feeling a bit stressed financially so I'm going to lend her my copy of the money diet and maybe she'll find her way here, I'm annoyed though because I had been given some clothes for ds1 from another friend and yesterday morning I took what I didn't want to the charity shop - however they would have been great for this friend's ds2 - grrrr! I have p[romised to send any more surplus her way from now on. Still until you talk to people you don't always know what's happeniong with them...

Lunchboxes today: hot chocolate, pasta salad with ham, sweetcorn and apple. and Amish choc chip cookies (made with oil rather than butter)
Dinner - defrosting a half leg of lamb (reduced) to go with roasties etc

I'm going to make a sort of price book a la TWG - I shall list all the prices from MrT and then if I'm in Lidl or Asda I can check against the Tesco price. Since I started on the monthly delivery scheme I am not only saving money on groceries but I seem to be using a lot less diesel as well.

Have a good day every one:T

My plans always seem to go awry, so yesterday was a bit of a write off for doing things, thinking I'll do it today - now I've been asked to go elsewhere today!! Motto for the year DON'T put off till tomorrow what can be done today!!!

Argh....means I need to fly round now and get showered, dressed, wash the dishes from this morning and get going!!

Have managed to wash the cat though :)

Not sure if anyone is interested in this, but hope you don't mind me mentioning it here....it's to do with Dogs in light of the recent attacks. Whilst something needs to be done, the knee jerk reactions for dog amnesties IMHO aren't the way forwards.

  • Hello everyone :hello:

Hugs for anyone who needs one :)

Boring houseworky things to do today are; make our's and DD's beds, hoover and the neverending laundry/hanging/ironing/putting away cycle.

Pleasant OS kitchen tasks today are; chopping Seville oranges and slow-cooking for Seville Orange Jelly (marmalade without the bits), making bread, slicing up the smoked gammon joint I cooked yesterday for the freezer. I've already saved the liquid from the cooking and got 5 tubs of ham stock for the freezer and starting a new batch of yogurt.

    Meals today;
breakfast - porridge, toast, apples and OJ for kids /marmite and toast for me

packed lunches - cheese sandwiches, apples, raisins, pineapple muffins plus a square of choc each pinched from Waitrose cafe (freebie with coffee;) )

lunch for me - crispbreads, mackerel pate and coleslaw/carrot sticks, apple

supper - salmon fillets with honey-mustard glaze, brown rice, veg
    pudding - fruit/yogurt and honey

The coleslaw is a bit of an experiment. I'm using cabbage/carrots/onion that I chopped with the last batch I made and then put in the freezer. It hasn't any dressing on, so I think it should be OK if I squeeze the water out of it. I'll let you know how it turns out as it could be a great time-saver.

    Hello everyone!

Gosh am I shattered!! My arms are aching too and I don't know why... must've slept on them funny last night!

Trying not to do much today as am taking the Guides to the panto this evening... want to pop round the shops though on a CV drop, to see if there are any jobs going.... I very much doubt it as most have probably taken on the Christmas temps, but it's worth a look at least! So, seeing as though I'll leave the flat about 3ish, it's worth me trying to have a nap I think! Going to have a nice bath later on too, going to have a proper 'get ready' as I haven't been out in ages!

Had better get going, have a list of jobs to do before I can zonk out!! Ugh.

Thriftlady Let me know how your coleslaw experiment goes. That's will be fab if it's just as good. I can see me doing it heaps of times.

Kethry You sounded like you had a great holiday with the in-laws. Nice to have you back.

Well I haven't packed one box. DD rang in a panic. Earlier today she rang me up to say her car was making a funny noise on the way to work, so I booked it in for a service tomorrow. This afternoon on the way home it didn't make it. Smoke was pouring out the bonnet. She rang RACQ & they had to tow it away but Moi had to go and pick her up. DH thinks she's cooked the motor as the mechanic said the water dropped itself out . Whatever it is, it sounds expensive for her. She won't know until Monday.
On a positive note (for me) she will be house bound this weekend and I can put on her packing duties with me. :D

DGS had a better afternoon apparently & had a good sleep. Well tomorrow the plumber is to come. :j WooooHoooo. Well off to chill out with a red wine & a little surf. DH is sitting next to me hogging the TV watching a Nazi documentary. :p I wanted to watch Midsummer Murders. ;)
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

    Hi To Eveyone,
Have been busy taking DS to nursery this morning. He had a blue fit last night, as we had to cut his hair. He was okay once he'd had a bath though.
Also went round town today, and got a lovely white and crome bathroom set reduced to £2.50, and some nice big gift bags for 25p each at WHSmiths.
Hope you all have a good day...POwie

  • Hello all. Feel like a very late starter today! Had a lie-in 'til 10.30 then as I'm later it has taken me lots longer to read all the posts! My reason for lying in is because lay awaked late last night chatting with dbf - he is concerned with my health as he thinks I'm stressed all the time. Which is true, but I've never really addressed it before. I guess having lived on my own/with flatmates for years now it has been easy to avoid the issues but he notices the little thinks (like the constant twitch under my eye). Feel relief having just admitted it... :j
Our conversation has also meant that my plans for today have shifted somewhat. Unloaded dw, will make bed, then do some work (although prioritising what needs doing so won't be as stressed). Going into town later as need some new shoes (my attempts to repair my reliable black flats failed - as I discovered when I went out in yesterday's rain! Never mind, I tried).
Will make a quick spag bol yesterday as didn't use the mince I defrosted as was too stuffed from afternoon tea, then pack for my week away with work.
Easy weekend as going to in-laws tomorrow til Sunday, then down to London on Sunday evening. Probably not around much on here next week due to being away, but if anyone has any de-stressing advice, it would be appreciated... Particularly any advice on how to stop being a perfectionist!

New flat, new budget, new commitment to MSE!

I'd love to have the recipe for that please Thriftlady :D

Not much to report today, except that after all that wind yesterday I got home and 2 of my fences had been smashed to smithereens (sp?), fortunately the next door neighbour has claimed responsibility and is going to get them fixed :j

DH's car has been in the garage since Tuesday when he broke down, we should find out how much that's going to cost today

Just about to have my lunch at work (Moroccan tomato and chickpea soup), tea tonight will be salmon, salad and new potatoes. Gosh this dieting lark is soooo boring!!!

    Have a great day everyone

    (((((hugs)))))
