Here's a money saving option for you.

With the iphone 5 due out shortly your friends will be salivating at the mouth in anticipation of being one of the first to own one. This leaves them with their obsolete, out of date, iphone 4's to dispose of. After all, they wouldn't be seen dead using one of those would they!

Offer to take it off their hands for a pitiful amount of cash, get it unlocked and stick in a giffgaff sim.

    Problem solved.

I treat my iPhone like I've treated all previous mobile phones - I don't drop it, I don't stand on it, I don't throw it around, I don't leave it lying about to the stolen.
Liquid (water) damage was something almost unknown before modern smartphones arrived. Now it's a common excuse for refusing to repair/replace the handsets under warranty that were not even close to any liquid. They blame you even for entering into a warm house if is cold outside.

I use a blackberry, because it JUST WORKS when I need it to and I am not a fan of putting my hand in my pockets for what I can get for free

or tune into an fm radio station, or make a video call to anybody with a compatible handset on 3g or add widgets or visit a flash website ;)

I use internet radio on my iphone, i can video call to people on skype or facetime if i need to, widgets are quite cool but not too fussed by term and all the websites i use dont have flash which is becoming old technology anyway :T

I have an iPhone 4. I blooming love it. Wouldn't want another phone, chose not to upgrade because there wasn't another phone I fancied. But my friend has a HTC desire and it does the same as the iPhone. My cousins all have a blackberry, it does the same as the iPhone. So will pretty much every smartphone on the market.

If all you want is to get on the net etc, but don't want to spend hundreds, you'd be insane to get an iPhone. There's plenty out there that do what you want for less than half the price.

But I never fail to be amused by the apple fanboi's v the apple haters argument that always ensues at the mere mention of any apple.

apple hater - 'Apple are overpriced crap.....people are sheep to buy them...'

apple fanboi - 'just because you can't afford it......'

It's a phone for christ sake, if it suits your needs and you want to spend the cash, great, of it doesn't and you don't, get a different phone. Why the need for the obsessive, repetitive argument?

Aye but FM radio does not use data (which lots of people whinge about data use) The facetime is only to other apple device users and requires wifi, some users want the phone to match their use, not adjust their usage to hide a handset's shortfalls :p
  • A thread of apple lovers Vs Apple haters neva fails to amuse me :D

Had a iphone for a shortwhile a year or so ago soon went back to android, I transfer quite a lot of music etc and being able to just drag and drop any files from my comp to the phone was far easier then using itunes.

As with all Apple products, the iphone is a case of marketing success over any real substance

Everyone wants them, as everyone has them, not because they offer any unique technological selling point, if anything theyre usually on par or behing the competition

Get an Android handset, much better, more apps and the possibility of far more apps due to the open source developer software

    and of course, theyre cheaper
