I even went to the extent of ordering an iPhone 4. Then I came to my senses and stayed with Blackberry. It does what I want it to do so I'm happy with it.

As other posters have said most phones do what the iPhone does if not better. If your mates with the iPhones start taking the proverbial just ask them to do the following, take the battery out and show you the memory card. ;)

or tune into an fm radio station, or make a video call to anybody with a compatible handset on 3g or add widgets or visit a flash website ;)

iOS5 is still catching up to Android. Notification bar = Android from the start. Mind you Bada has thieved it as well. It is really sweet though so if I ever design a smartphone OS it'll have one too.

I just find it amazing that for all these years iOS's main screen is just an app drawer.
  • Yes, but notification bar = System Tray = Windows 95.

I'm so *not* knocking Android, as I've said in other threads I use an OSF and even replaced it once after breaking it so it wasn't a whim choice, but hardly any of these features are new, or make the difference between one phone or another. :)

I like the iPhones (and intend to be getting an iPad shortly) because everything just works (other than warranty faults). In the sense that it's all thought out and comes as a package like no phone I've had before. Other phones I've used are a nightmare to get hooked up to your PC (I don't and won't ever use a Mac), transfer files, update software etc. Plus apps aren't always compatible, the range of features differs so widly that the old app you had on one phone is no longer suitable for your new one etc.
With the iPhone I find it pretty seamless, it just works together how I want it to; its all been thought out for you and works the way its intended. Lack of flash is irritating now and again, and I sometimes feel I'd like to be able to expand the memory capacity. So it's not all good news (I'm far from an Apple worshipper), but as far as my phone goes, it makes life nice and simple. Plus its popularity means there's a wide variety of accessories out there designed exactly to fit.
For my phone I like it that way, while my PC I want to be as versatile as possible, so I'd never get a Mac; I build my systems and maintain myself. The iPhone suits me because of this.

I got bought a 3GS, I'd never have bought one....but in fairness its lasted 2 years almost and im usually a yearly upgrader as a minimum, Apple OS was crap and buggy until OS4, Android is still behind Apple in that sense and i think Android will really become something in next 2 years, Windows 7 phones are great but the no Micro SD is a no no for me like many people.....

In fairness Apple OS is ahead of the game, the hardware is still pretty basic compared to the likes of HTC/Samsung i think and Android on high spec smartphones is a winner

The Samsung Galaxy II is cheap to touch plastic compared to a more solid HTC and that screen is alot easier broken. Apple wins on screens.

I reckon out of the woodwork with the great 6.0 operating system in next 2 years Blackberry will be a leader but as like Samsung Galaxy SII Blackberry suffer on built quality....and no full HD yet

I've been waiting for something like what the Nokia 95 was when released from Apple/BB/HTC so until then I'll stick with my 3GS on my Virgin Liberty 3000 mins sim

If iphone 4GS/5 dont have UMA and the ability to swipe your phone for purchases then I'll never get one - these two features with FULL HD are my 3 wishlist and I aint parting with my cash until my requirements are met by an manufacturer.

Waste of money iphone ? not a waste - a rip off
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)

    3. Do I really need the Internet on the move? If I'm with friends it would be rude to be browsing the Internet instead of talking to them.

I wish there were more people like you!:T

Have to disagree with that as the SGS2 has a brilliant screen (one of the best on the market) and gorilla glass makes it one of the toughest. Certainly stronger than the iphones.
  • Completely normal. I can't stand Crapple. Would never buy one of their products again. They don't suit my needs (or my bank account!) and they're desperately trying to sue other manufacturers to prevent me from buying products that do suit them.
Have I helped? Feel free to click the 'Thanks' button. I like to feel useful (and smug). ;)

    1. They're expensive.
    2. You've really got to look after them.
    1. Yes they are. There are cheaper Android devices that do much the same thing.
    2. Not that I've noticed. I treat my iPhone like I've treated all previous mobile phones - I don't drop it, I don't stand on it, I don't throw it around, I don't leave it lying about to the stolen.

Exactly. And if anything does go wrong, they have call centres centres staffed by native English speakers (in Ireland, I believe).
