New Halifax Account Range?

  • Because the Cash Account does not come with the ability to obtain a cheque book or overdraft it will always have CPD regardless of how well the account is run and regardless of how many or little defaults are on a persons credit file.

Only way is to close the Cash Account, and try to re-apply for the Classic account but there is no guarantee that the application will be successful or for it to offer another Cash Account.

I had a Cash Account for about a year and then closed it and apply about nearly a year later for the Classic got turn down because I had defaults at the time. I was then offered the Cash Account again.

How to find out if you have CPD marker on your account?
Click on 'Upgrade' Account and if it states 'You already hold the highest account' or try and apply for another account and it states 'Sorry, we can't offer you a secondary account' then you have a CPD marker on.

It's the same with Lloyds TSB and has been for donkeys years.

As a general rule of thumb, this can't be changed - although no harm in calling them and speaking with lending. Only bother if things dramatically change with your credit commitments elsewhere, internal behaviour changes on the account or you start putting in a ton more money in the account.

So essentially due to the Halifax switching to the LLoyds system, I become screwed overnight?
I would not mind so much but having just come out the other side of not being able to get anything for 6 years, I now get punished again through no fault of my own:mad:.
So in effect I might be better off to just build my credit rating up further for 6 months or so, then go into my branch and if they refuse to upgrade my account, switch to another bank but not LLoyds?
This seems so unfair to me, I have paid the price for previous problems for 6 bloody years and now this:mad::mad:

I meant to add as well, can I just go into my branch and ask them outright about thid CPD99? Do they have to confirm it if I do, or like everything else to do with banks, they can choose what to admit when it suits them! BLOODY Bankers with a W!

It could just be no doubt at the moment, this side of things account wise still has to be set-up fully.

I think they are still trying to resolve some of the other issues and this has not took priority.

You could be fine to be honest as long as you don't have any problems with credit agreements elsewhere and keep the Halifax account in good standing.

Keep an eye out on it for a few months, and see if it stays the same. You can also ask Telephone Banking or pop into branch to see what it says about your account and if you do indeed have a CPD marker on your account.

Most people get CPD on the account like me because I have defaults, before I got defaults I never had CPD on my accounts.

Problem is no matter how well how run the account with the bank, and even keeping agreements elsewhere in good shape the bank still may say no to lending regardless and a move to another bank could then look good anyways.

They don't really care anymore to be honest, it's all about if you will make them a profit rather than giving you a helping hand.

What one bank sees about you at any given time could be a gold mine for another when it comes to offering you products and services.

You are within your rights to ask - no doubt about that. But they may wan't to know how you know about this and even if they know themselves what you are talking about and how to check it.

Ask about your Internal Score and if you have any blocks which could prevent further lending ;)

  • OK so I have a HFX URCA and a BOS EasyCash. I logged onto HFX website to be told that they could not offer me a secondary current account. Alarm bells rang "CPD". I then tried the BOS website and logged in and got a guaranteed offer on a BOS All-in-One card. I applied and got a limit of £1950 (note that this will be my second credit card with them as I already have an Easyrate card).

    So - CPD my !!!!.
I get enough exercise just pushing my luck

Another day and it may be all change again! I logged into online banking this morning against my current account the upgrade button was there. So I thought ok, click it, couldn't resist it! Anyway it took me to the upgrade page for a ultimate reward current account. Now I did not go as far as selecting the apply button but before today I could not even get onto this page withour the 'you can't have an upgrade' screaming out from the page.

So with this in mind I went back to my accounts page and down the right side where it shows all the options and other accounts available, I pressed the current accounts shortcut. Previously this is where I got the 'you can't have a second current account screen', this time it went to a screen inviting me to open a second current account.

So was this all a bad dream and does that sound as though I don't have this CPD99 on my account? Any ideas anyone??

The good news is you don't have CPD on your account.. The standard levels in regards to lending will still apply though meaning any application could still be declined - this is more on par for overdrafts but in the past, once people have got through the lending door they have found Lloyds TSB to be quite generous.

Now when you log in, it is also all change as so.

See the upgrade link? So I have an RCA and as part of that am entitled to upgrade to the URCA right?

This has changed! Today I log in and I press upgrade and show me silver account. On Halifax site it show ultimate reward. But when I click bank accounts link on bos it says I can open a second account call classic but on Halifax says no sorry you can't have secondary account.

Does that mean I not got CPD mark and would it credit search if I apply for second account? Thank for help

Do you know if there a way to find guaranteed overdraught amount like on old system you enter 9999?

Mine is £100. I apply for £500 and it said no sorry. Oops
