Oh update with the result! I use a few cheques too I pay my daughters rent every week by cheque plus my own stuff. I'm a bit old fashioned I think!0 -

I've never seen one of these offers....how can I change that ?
I understand that because I've had my account for so long ( 18 yrs ) that it doesn't show up on credit files....my account used to be called MAXIM..

I received a guaranteed offer for the Halifax All in One card through the online banking site the other day too - must be their time of the month!
I have to say, I'm quite pleased with Halifax's pre-approved offers. I've only been banking with them since September, and my credit history only goes back that far too, so it's not as if I've got a decent credit history. It might indicate that they only really look back at your credit/account behaviour over the last six months.0 -
Cheque books are usually only provided on request these days as it costs money to print. They'll quite happily order one for an eligible account if you need it though.0
