Spot on, i like honest answers you know where you stand with them :D

Exactly amersall! Thats what I love about everyone on this site and especially dunston, she tells it like it is and even if we dont like it we know to heed the advice because we know you all know your stuff!!! No point wasting time and energy, ours and the banks, if we're just not understanding the figures or info.

Thanks for your advice earlier, of course the cheque was lodged the very next day , i didnt even think that doing that would mean we couldnt challenge their figures :o:o:o
Never mind though, we still got a nice wee sum and seriously would not have gone through with it if it hadnt been for the advice from everyone here!:T:T

I'm not scary. Sometimes I just type fast and remove as much waffle as I can so it can appear short and to the point.

Many years ago (ouch, if feels like yesterday), I had a manager who was to point on everything. No niceties at all. Not quite Doc Martin but he said what he thought and you knew what he wanted. When he gave praise you knew it was real and not the fake, two faced style some gave and when he gave criticism you knew he was right and it wasnt personal and he wouldnt keep a grudge. Out of all the mangers I have had in my younger days, he is the one that I appreciate the most. You learn from others and I prefer the say it as it is style.
I definitely had Dunstonh as a girl!!!

Oh dear. I need to butch my responses up!
If thats what im owed then thats fine, if it hadnt been for mse and all the great folk her i would still be paying it. But equally if theyve messed up the calcs id rather get to bottom of it. I was trying to work out if they will give further breakdown or list of premiums paid and if we can still query it?? Is it too late to do SAR? Problem is we have banked the cheque!! Amersall has said on another thread that doing that is acceting it etc. So im assuming we should be grateful for what we've got and let it go??

In a way you are lucky here. Others have found that where there is no record beyond a certain point of premiums paid, they have refused to pay a penny and some that have gone of the FOS after that have posted that the FOS wont rule because there is no evidence to show what was paid. Being offered an estimate means that some will be better off against what they paid and some will be worse off. However, all we be better off than those that got no payment for periods of no proof.

  • Came home last night and my calculations letter was waiting for me. I was astonished to read I was getting a little bit over £13K back in total (including the credit card refund I already have). Way way more than I expected. :)

So glad this is now almost at a conclusion, just awaiting my cheques!

Good luck to everyone else, I am sure anyone who has not heard yet will do so very soon.

Or make your replies sound less b!tchy ;)

My loans/cc have had 'letters requested'. Anyone know what that means?

One cheque for £365 for my (active) credit card was waiting for me when I got home last night. :j However, no calculations letter yet, and no revised loan agreement to sign... (as the loan is still current, they won't issue a cheque for the refund until I've signed a new agreement. Even though I'm going to be paying it off anyway...)

  • I'm glad everyones getting their payments and letters etc.
I have a claim with Halifax, which i started on the 26th of June.
I hadnt heard anything from them so i rang up and was told that my claim had been upheld and a letter had been issued on the 4th October (Date of call 3rd November).
I told them i hadnt recieved a letter and was told a copy would be issued that day......................roll on a week still no letter.
I rang up again and was told that another letter would be issued and i was asked if i had received the cheque which apparently had been issued on the same day as the first letter (4th October) which i hadnt.
I was then told this cheque would be cancelled and another issued as a matter of urgency, we are now almost 4 weeks on and still no cheque has arrived.
I find ringing up pointless as all i get told is that it is with the payments team. Also asking to speak to manager is pointless as they are never available and never ring back.
I sent them a strong email through the complaints part of the Halifax website 2 weeks ago and have no response.
Does anyone have any ideas as to how i can chase the payment up?
I'm not received their letters or the alleged cheque they sent so i doubt i recieve anything of them despite me asking for an alternative method of payment.

It covers self employed. However, you may get lucky if they are still auto upholding all complaints.

I had to phone the bank about my mortgage a few months ago as I couldnt afford the payments, the advisor asked if I had PPI I told her I did then she asked where I was employed. I told her my status and she said 'oh you wont be covered then, no point trying to claim'.

So now I'm on reduced payments and falling into arrears!
