Halifax PPI redress Payments

I highly doubt this will be the case so raised an compliant with the Financial Ombudsman Service as soon as I got of the phone to the Halifax. Maybe this will spur them on a bit....
That may be more damaging. If you are in the pile of Halifax complaints that is going to be auto-upheld (whether you have a case or not) then you may lose that advantage if you ask the FOS to make a ruling on it.
So, rather than slipping through and getting lucky, you could get someone ruling against you as you have no grounds for complaint (we dont know your complaint so cant say).I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -

Really? As Halifax have already sent an offer letter I thought they were prehaps admitting they mis-sold the PPI. My complaint was with the time it was taking and the lack of communication not the fact the my claim is under question.
What would your advice be?0 -
In common with other posts that are coming up, I have just got off the phone to a guy at Halifax who said that claims going back to May, when I put mine in, are now being treated as a "priority" and a cheque will be issued by 15th December either preceded or followed by the calculations! This I see as real progress, as every time I've phoned up it's always been with The Redress Team with no timescale.
As a comparison, after all the brilliant info on MSE, I've been tracking the ppi saga for the last 12 months. I got the other half to reclaim the ppi on her 3 year car loan with Northern Rock taken out in 2005. She complained in May and had a cheque for £1800 in her hand 6 weeks later!! Rock on!0 -

only applying this rule to Halifax, I would sit tight and periodically chase with them. If you are in the auto-upheld list of people (which is probable given your time period waiting, then I wouldnt want to force a look at the case. yes its a pain waiting and for anyone else I would say go to FOS. However, Halifax are in a mess which is why they are upholding everything and you can use that to your advantage.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Have you heard anything yet? My mum and dad received there acknowledgement for their mortgage letter 17.10 and they haven't heard anything yet either.
I phoned them and they said that my claim is still in the 'Calculations' stage and that I should hear whether I have been successful in my claim by 22nd December.0 -
I wondered if someone could advise me if this is the standard procedure for Halifax to pay the full redress onto the credit card and then issue a cheque for the same amount. Is this done even if there is a balance outstanding on the cardI have had a previous up held claim and although the money was put on my credit card account a cheque was then raised for the amount and the credit card balance rose again.0 -

Look forward to seeing the calculations. Cheque sent on 18th breakdown letter sent 23rd. A familiar story going by todays posts!! Sounds like they really did wait til their quarterly results were announced before they issued a huge batch of payments, as someone on another thread has suggested. A lot of payouts in the last few days. :T:T Have fun spending everyone who has got paid and good luck to those who are still waiting.

Well done Mary, about time!!!!!
My brother received a cheque the other day for around 1200 quid, and another one appeared today for over 3k......only thing is, he has no idea what its for!!! There has been a letter telling him an amount for 10.4k will be released when he sends off his loan paperwork, with no reference to these cheques at all, which I find very odd, but hes not complaining

yes as long as you are not in arrears. I have had 2 refunds done in this way, cheque is raised around 5 days after showing on CC account0 -
Well at long last the refund has appeared on my credit card account, hopefully will get cheque next week.
Acceptance received 3rd September got just over £1100.
Thanks to everyone who helped with my initial inquiry

Thanks Wendy. My husband is in arrears with his card, but received letter last Saturday with an offer of £4100. It stated would be paid on card and cheque issued. There was no mention about being in arrears. I wonder if we will received the difference between arrears and the offer, or whether they will leave it all on the card. Will have to wait and see. Interest was on till 15th December.yes as long as you are not in arrears. I have had 2 refunds done in this way, cheque is raised around 5 days after showing on CC account
Thanks again.0
