Ethan is the best of those names - as a teacher, I'm finding it very hard to decide on a boy's name that I like if we have one. Archie reminds me of Eastenders - I agree with the comments about Rylan and Rogan, and I can guarantee that whichever class I go into (I do supply teaching in lots of different schools), that if there is a Connor in there, they will be a nightmare! All of my teacher friends have had the same experiences with this too. Others to avoid are Aaron, Reece, Joshua, Jordan, Jack, Callum ... the list goes on!Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170

Lol, I wonder how many people are sat at home slightly offended that their child's name (if it's been mentioned on this thread) is thought of so badly by others.
The Aaron my OH knew was the son of an Army Captain. Very posh family.
Joshua...local Minister's son, again quite posh family with high standards.
Jack...local teacher's son's name.
All lovely quiet kids. I wonder if the connotations to names is a regional thing more than anything else?Herman - MP for all!0 -
I'm not keen on any of the names to be honest, sorry OP. I agree with waiting until little one is here, maybe you'll come up with something else. As a 3rd year student midwife I can tell you I've come across a huge number of ethans and archies, no rogans or rylans though.... clue there lol.:A

I think the trouble with names is the fact that certain names are becoming more and more popular, so it stands to reason, that if only a small selection of names are being chosen, that there will be badly-behaved children associated with them.Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170 -
My DS2 is an Aaron and he's a little sweetie!!! Think people are being a bit narrow minded when they say don't have that name, it's a naughty child's name. But that's just my opinionThank you to everyone for sharing competitions!0

I agree with a couple of other posters; for God's sake think how these names will sound on a CV, or with "Dr" preceding them!
I'm all for interesting names (I can't for the life of me think why you would call your kid Ruby or Jack, knowing full well that there will probably be 7 of each in their class at school!), but some people really aren't giving their child the best chance in life by giving them a name that screams "chav".
A few particularly awful ones that I've heard of lately are :
Mackenzi - Just vile.
Kaiden - worse.
Maicie (I think that's supposed to be Macy..?)
Deesal - absolutely disgusting (presumably the skank that I went to school with thought that naming a child "Diesel" wasn't bad enough, and that she should spell it incorrectly too, just to ensure that his life chances were well and truly scuppered)0 -
The best advice I got given - and I keep saying it lol - is imagine your child's name on his CV. People have preconceived ideas of what a person named such and such is going to be like.
Somebody should have told my parents that but no, everybody expects me to be brown with broken English.
Also to add to yours; imagine you're telling somebody the name in a noisy pub. if the response is 'eh, what, uh, eh' etc.. then you've picked the wrong name..0
