    I like Archie the most.

Ethan is a little too common (or popular, I should say!) for my liking. I had an unusual name but have had friends who are one of 5-10 Emilys/Beckys in one year and it drove them crazy to be Becky 3 or referred to by surname.

Rogan reminds me of curry, Rylan I'm not keen on otherwise.

The idea of 'naughty names' intrigues me and I can't help wonder if it is just a vicious circle and the stigma of the name, and the treatment that follows, actually leads to naughty children.

Maicie (I think that's supposed to be Macy..?)

Deesal - absolutely disgusting (presumably the skank that I went to school with thought that naming a child "Diesel" wasn't bad enough, and that she should spell it incorrectly too, just to ensure that his life chances were well and truly scuppered)

Why on earth do people do that, why show yourself up by making it look like you can't even spell the name you've chosen/made up :wall:

Our name is Aaron, so I hope we don't have a naughty one. I also liked Connor :o

Ethan is the best of those names - as a teacher, I'm finding it very hard to decide on a boy's name that I like if we have one. Archie reminds me of Eastenders - I agree with the comments about Rylan and Rogan, and I can guarantee that whichever class I go into (I do supply teaching in lots of different schools), that if there is a Connor in there, they will be a nightmare! All of my teacher friends have had the same experiences with this too. Others to avoid are Aaron, Reece, Joshua, Jordan, Jack, Callum ... the list goes on!

    Jack? Why Jack?

My eldest is 15 and is called Jack. He was named after his Great Grandfather, so it's not like it's a newish Chavvy name.

I hope the little man isn't going to be judged when he starts school in a couple of years. His name is Dylan, after his paternal Great Grandmother, Dylis.

  • I don't think it's nasty to tell people when you don't like a name. Far better that they know in advance what people think of the names they've picked, than register the baby's birth and lumber the poor child with it for life and make him a laughing stock! In real life I might not be quite so vocal about hating a name, but I certainly don't pretend I like a name when I don't and my facial expression would say it all anyway.

    I voted for Archie!

I wanted to call my DS Archie but I made the mistake of telling my then workmates - one guy said it was a name for an old guy sitting nursing a half-pint all day in the corner of the pub - put me right off! (The same guy called his son Connor before it was common - boy, was he annoyed as the years passed ;))

Interestingly, the Ethan in DS's class is a real horror too......
  • I voted Connor. My first i was adamant was a boy up til the scan when they said girl. I'd already chosen Connor Joseph as his name-had to re-think that one lol. Then when i found out my 2nd was a boy i didnt want Connor as a first name as i decided i liked Ryan instead, so he's Ryan Connor. Thing is, its personal preference, and you will always get someone sayign they know someone with that name etc etc and they're naughty/horrible/dead!! My MIL hated ryan as a name cos she was a teacher, but i stood firm.
