I like Archie best then Ethan. Wish I had called my youngest one of those names now. Instead I gave him the name Connor and can confirm he is the devils child, an absolute tearaway and nutty as a fruitcake.

Others to avoid are Aaron, Reece, Joshua, Jordan, Jack, Callum ... the list goes on!

Why would these names need to be avoided!?

Especially Aaron, Reece, Joshua and Jack. They are lovely, very boyish traditional names!
  • Nothing wrong with the name Joshua!:p

I think SM said that because she is a teacher and sees loads of these names in every class.. They have been done to death i imagine.

The idea of 'naughty names' intrigues me and I can't help wonder if it is just a vicious circle and the stigma of the name, and the treatment that follows, actually leads to naughty children.

I don't think anyone is suggesting the name makes a child 'naughty', rather the sort of parents who choose those names are more likely to have badly behaved children.

We have planted an oak tree for our little one and called it The Joshua Tree.

    Can't stand U2 though :D

  • I chose Ethan, would have been on my list of boys names but it doesn't sound right with our surname. I'm not too keen on the others, and DH's cousin's kid is called Archie and he is an absolute nightmare child which has put me off the name for life. We're trying to decide on a boy's name at the moment and it's hard! I still have 7 weeks to go though so a bit more time than you OP.

The best advice I've ever had about choosing a name is to imagine them as a newsreader - how would their name sound being read out on a serious news report?

Good luck with whatever you decide!

  • Haven't read all the posts, so someone made have already said this

I think we'd need to know your surname aswell to be able to say which is best.
  • I wouldn't give out my surname on here OP.
