yes but reject the 14 day trial option, and do this first.

right click my computer, properties, advanced, error reporting, select disable error reporting

when you've reinstalled mbam, post another hjt log and commit charge

seems to be a lot better than it was you have made things a lot better for me. what browser would you say is the best to use, as other half is saying that his youtube is saying his browser is out of date.

oh just a thought you asked if there was another user on this pc, could those things still running be coming from his user and I have only deleted them from mine. Sorry if this is a silly question

Some of the things installed add services and startup items - itunes, google, tomtom, nokia, hp printer, wd backup, adobearm, quicktime etc

on an average system most of this is sat there running all the time in the background, but rarely used.

Things beginning with O4 can generally be disabled with msconfig and then run manually when needed, eg hp ink monitor doesn't need to be monitoring 24hours/day, backup software only needs to be running when you do a backup, adobe arm, qttask. - Software that adds a service is trickier to run on demand once disabled.

disable these using msconfig (unless you want them running all the time, they can be run manually if need be)

    O4 - Global Startup: HP Digital Imaging Monitor.lnk = C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\bin\hpqtra08.exe
    O4 - Global Startup: WDDMStatus.lnk = C:\Program Files\Western Digital\WD SmartWare\WD Drive Manager\WDDMStatus.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KernelFaultCheck] %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -k
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Adobe ARM] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\ARM\1.0\AdobeARM.exe"

disable these services, these should be under the services tab of msconfig

    O23 - Service: Google Update Service (gupdate) (gupdate) - Google Inc. - C:\Program Files\Google\Update\GoogleUpdate.exe
    O23 - Service: Google Update Service (gupdatem) (gupdatem) - Google Inc. - C:\Program Files\Google\Update\GoogleUpdate.exe
    O23 - Service: Google Software Updater (gusvc) - Google - C:\Program Files\Google\Common\Google Updater\GoogleUpdaterService.exe

if you dont plug the tomtom in often, you could also disable this service or uninstall the software

    O23 - Service: TomTomHOMEService - TomTom - C:\Program Files\TomTom HOME 2\TomTomHOMEService.exe

tick and fix this using hijackthis

    O23 - Service: ServiceLayer - Unknown owner - C:\Program Files\Nokia\PC Connectivity Solution\ServiceLayer.exe (file missing)

IE8 works on youtube, are you sure you aren't talking about flash player?

have you installed a ip/cctv/x10 camera or similar? as you have x10nets.exe running

after that there's not much bloat other than the western digital software and a few extra services.

    Morning closed,

    O4 - Global Startup: HP Digital Imaging Monitor.lnk = C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\bin\hpqtra08.exe
    O4 - Global Startup: WDDMStatus.lnk = C:\Program Files\Western Digital\WD SmartWare\WD Drive Manager\WDDMStatus.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KernelFaultCheck] %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -k
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Adobe ARM] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\ARM\1.0\AdobeARM.exe"

None of these are showing on my user when I go into msconfig.

    O23 - Service: Google Update Service (gupdate) (gupdate) - Google Inc. - C:\Program Files\Google\Update\GoogleUpdate.exe
    O23 - Service: Google Update Service (gupdatem) (gupdatem) - Google Inc. - C:\Program Files\Google\Update\GoogleUpdate.exe
    O23 - Service: Google Software Updater (gusvc) - Google - C:\Program Files\Google\Common\Google Updater\GoogleUpdaterService.exe

Did these but when pc restarted I got a pop saying that I needed to undo the changes, so have until I hear back from you.

tick and fix this using hijackthis

    O23 - Service: ServiceLayer - Unknown owner - C:\Program Files\Nokia\PC Connectivity Solution\ServiceLayer.exe (file missing)

Have done this with no problems.

As for youtube will have to wait for him to get home to ask about that sorry, but I know I have adobe X (not sure if that's the bit you ment sorry.)

    Thanks Nicky
