av= antivirus, so yes download avast, uninstall mse, install avast, register avast.
download and install cleanmem
Disable ctfmon - control panel, regional and language options,languages, details, advanced, tick the Turn off advanced text services, ok
Click the java icon in control panel, advanced, misc - untick java quick starter, and untick place icon in task bar
Click the java icon in control panel, updates, untick check for updates!!

I don't think you should be doing anything more until you have made a back up, especially since you have said that the PC is used for business purposes.
The advice that you have been given is sound, but some of the the tasks may be ambitious for you, given that you don't seem to know how to remove programs through Control Panel.No free lunch, and no free laptop
