I would go for eset in the AV department, small footprint and very good defs - btw cleaning caches/tmp files, removing start up items etc do have an effect..

If you don't need it remove it.

Sorry pc froze and had to restart. I have got Avast and taken mse off now.

I was not sure where to remove the programmes as was being told different ways and wanted to check before I did anything I was doing it the right way. I use to always go control panel, add remove programmes. Not as I was being told how to do things, I wanted to make sure I was doing it as per the help given.

Should I go ahead and download cleanmem now?

Just to update what I have done so far:
Done the commit charge test.

Done the anti_malware log (full one).

Done the ccleaner registry cleaner and done as that recommended.
also done this on cc Untick the "windows log files" box, under the system heading before cleaning.

Uninstalled Google Toolbar and MSN Toolbar.

Uninsalled Rapport.

Downloaded Avast

Uninstalled Microsoft essentials.

Downloaded Startuplite and done as that recommended.
Done - In internet explorer, click on tools, internet options, advanced, disable script debugging to stop this running.

Done - Disable ctfmon - control panel, regional and language options,languages, details, advanced, tick the Turn off advanced text services, ok

Done - Click the java icon in control panel, advanced, misc - untick java quick starter, and untick place icon in task bar

how is it running now, and what is the commit charge after a reboot before loading anything else. Could you post a fresh hijackthis log?

Is running a lot better but have noticed that youtube is saying that my browser is outdated, I have IE8. Would I be better using something different, if so what one would you say is the best.

Have not done a new commit charge and Hijack this log yet as have not got the cleanmem, will do though as soon as you let me know I am looking at the right part to download it.
