Are all CPW PAYG or pay monthly phones still unlocked? Particularly interested in the SEs.
thanks.0 -
Just bought Motorola L6 on O2 for my daughter from Carphone Warehouse - it was unlocked.
The assistant told me however that the Motorola L6 's on Orange are locked.
Its however best to ask before buying as this may well vary between different branches.0 -
I have found that any O2 contract phone that I have ever purchased has been unlocked (3 so far)0

paug upgrades arent reversable correctgmc wrote:I got the alcatel 801 from orange today for £9.99!!
If you are an existing customer I discovered a cheeky little tip for this phone. I had been told by a girl in the orange shop that you get £10 off all PAYG phones with a trade in (any phone, just has to turn on). I thought great, i've got a monster brick at home that i'll use.
Went back in today (different orange shop), asked for the 801, went through the PAYG upgrade process etc, got to the till and the girl tells me its £19.99 - 'I say what about the £10 trade in for my old handset?' - apparently doesn't apply to the 801 as its in the sale and only recently came down from £39.99. I told them I was under the impression the trade in was for all phones, I had been advised by a different sales assistant etc. The upgrade had already gone through so I don't think it could be reversed. She then went to speak to the manager who gave me the £10 off anyway as a goodwill gesture.
Might be worth a try if you are considering this phone.

you wouldnt, well shouldnt be able to get away with that now as orange retail doesnt do trade ins for the £10 off any more (except for 1 phone i think)
for those who really want to bring down the price of orange retail phones
at the mo we have sim cards at £5 (purely credit there is no actual charge for the sim card) then upgrade that sim card to the phone so essentially you pay £15 instead of £20 for the alcatel 205Yes Your Dukeiness

Hi there
I want to use a new PAYG basically as an answering service for my new job as I don't want to give out the number for my own mobile. Calls made will be minimal(ish), but want to have free message pick-up. I am currently on a Virgin tarrif with Orange and I can call the voicemail as often as I want for free, but as I said, want to keep that number/phone for my own private use (New job can attract some strange people). Don't HAVE to have mobile for job, but would like one, hence me providing and not employer.
Thanks0 -
Hi there
Need a PAYG with free message retrieval as in meetings/driving a lot and this phone will carry a number to give out for work only, I won't be making many calls on it. Private mobile has this already with a Virgin tarrif from Orange where I only pay for the calls by DD monthly, however, don't want to sign up for a further Orange tarrif and then have to wait to switch.
Can anyone help?
