I hate to contradict you utilitybroker, but I can assure you on my tarrif with O2 I am charged 35p per minute and 12p per text. Its always been 35p per minute weekdays and 2p per minute weekends, to landlines, the texts used to be 10 and they put them up to 12 without any notification. So Virgin is going to be cheaper for me. Regards - sally
But O2 would of course have given you the option of changing to the newer cheaper tariff.
Personally i think you have made a wise move. Plus of course Virgin give you free voicemail,O2 dont !!0 -
Most people get 300 free texts on o2, plus an o2 treat and 10% of top ups back every 3 months, non of which virgin do that I know of. And people who top up with £15 pm with o2 also get free off peak mins to other o2 or landline (think its 150 minutes pm) on top of 300 free texts etc0

HOW do you find gems such as the Nokia 1112 offer, which, because I hesitated, have missed out on ?
Do you trawl the sites daily or is there something I can do to check them ?
Janice
Yes, I trawl them daily. I do a bit of buying and selling phones plus unlocking (using the sort of stuff they use in the local market/phone shop).
I'm always on the look out for stuff, but I know where to look quickly rather than actually "trawling". Certain sites have their times when they do offers and others when it probably isn't worth bothering.
TBH, you're probably best just to keep your eye on websites like MSE to see the offers posted rather than trawl yourself. If you post what you're after then usually someone will comeback with some suggestions.0 -
Hi,
I doubt that this can be beaten.
The above phone was for sale before xmas (in a basket by the entrance) in savers and superdrug for £14.99 including a £10 top-up. PAYG so there is no contract and no disconnection if not topped-up. This is on the Three network so you will have to check their website for the tariffs as you can change them.
Its a VERY good phone, with a 1/2 meg camera, and video. Free 3g video news, weather, (big brother latest clips if your into that (i am not)).
PLUS
for every call and text u get, you get paid. (per min for calls)
Loving it.
Not bad for £4.99 phone. I got 2.
It may still be on sale now, but haven't been back to the store or the area to check. It was in Ipswich if you are in the area. Plus they also done the same deal in kings-lynn.

PS
Three are also offering FREE Msn Messenger on their phones at the mo, which is great for people like me who rely on it.0 -
I've just tried the https://www.boxbreak.com site & the Nokia 1112 is for sale for £24.99 + £2.99 dely with £15 credit on Virgin Mobile through Virgin Mobile according to them. Server is down so I can't order it but do you think I'm on a winner here seeing as I missed the other offer ? Any comments.

You can get 20% off price at Virgin that using a code which would take the price of the phone down to £20 + delivery, instructions here http://www.hotukdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?p=128615.
Alternatively, if you already had a Virgin PAYG number you can buy the phone without a SIM but with £10 airtime for £14.99 + delivery through your existing account via Virgin RED - you can't use the 20% discount on this option though. You can buy a Virgin SIM instore for £5 just now including £5 credit so works out the same price both routes however you could buy your mobile via the 20% discount then use that SIM to buy a second including £10 credit using the second route; that way you would have a spare phone effectively for £4.99.0 -
Billymac, thanks for that. I STILL cannot order online though for some strange reason although it says offer is still active & it'll cost total of £22.98 (£19.99 + £2.99 dely) rather than £27.98 (£24.99 + £2.99 dely) So, how shall I buy it ? Will I NEED to ring them, guess I will. (Members on other forum above said Virgin were asking where they managed to get the code from & some members weren't allowed the phone they wanted using the code.)0

sallysaver wrote:Hi,
I am sorry to ask this again but I'm sure someone will have the answer. I have bought the Nokia 1112 from phones 4 you (thanks again roadhog and the loft), joined and bought through Quidco, so how does my £5 eventually find me please? Thanks - sally
You can opt for Paypal or BACS payment from Quidco. Paypal levy a charge if the amount is under £50 and Quidco charge 5p for a BACS transfer. BACS is the better method IMHO and worth the 5p. Either way you have to enter your account details on the Quidco site so they know where to send it. It will then pop up in your account in a few months time.
However, if this is your only purchase through Quidco, then you will NOT receive the £5 as Quidco charge the first £5 as their fee.0 -

Hi Billymac,
Just to say a big thanks to you for putting me onto the 20% voucher. The Virgin site had been down for a few days but about 4am yesterday when I was on the pc & tried it, it was up & running again. So, my new mobile, a Nokia 1112, arrives Monday 5th. It cost £19.99 + £2.99 dely = £22.98 & includes £5 on the SIM card & a £10 voucher. Although I can't have free unblocking from http://trycktill.com/eng/default.asp or get it done by a shop, Virgin WILL unblock it FREE once I've had £30 credit from them, they have said, so I'm sorted. I clicked on the "thanks" button, BTW.
