Hi Zenmaster,
Thanks for your explanation on how Quidco works. This is my first purchase so thats the reason they didn't ask for my details as they keep the first £5. I had read about Quidco before but did nothing about it at the time. Pity really as I have just bought a washer from John Lewis and I now see they participate in Quidco. Ah well, you live and learn. Thanks again - sally0 -
Hi jeanssis,
I am pleased that you have found something suitable at a reasonable price. As you know I managed to get the phone for £19.99 (thanks to roadhog and theloft's postings) and it was delivered on Friday. It was really easy to get up and running, I just had to dail 789 from the phone and a very plausible young man took my £5 and that was that. The £30 free airtime will be credited 28/2, 31/3 and 30/4 in £10 installments. Its definitely not an all singing/dancing piece of kit, but it will serve my purpose. Regards - sally0 -
sounds like the orange PERK offer, people should be aware its not available on all phones, it can only be used on phones £30 plus, pebsham wrote:Orange retail charges £10 "top up" on all new PAYG phones so you have to take this into account. To avoid this take any registered orange sim in and tell them you wish to "upgrade" this avoids being charged the top up cost.
A really good saving at the moment is there for anybody that knows someone that works in the NHS.
Orange retail offer a £20 discount off their PAYG phones upon production of proof. You can also use this with the upgrade route so the discount really drops down to £10 off and a free £10 top up. (Or the full £20 off if you upgrade) On the cheaper phones this can be really striking.
You can walk out with a phone costing you only nothing if you upgrade or 9.99 with £10 credit already on it.
you have to take in a recent payslip in order to get it and is available for more people than those in the NHS there is a list ill see if i can find itYes Your Dukeiness

if you plan on getting it from orange retail its a generic handset (unbranded by orange/straight from manufacturer) which usually means that it is already unlocked.taney wrote:Hi all,
can u plz telll whether Alcatel OT-E205 can be unlocked or not?
i havent actually put in another simcard though but i would be very suprised if orange had locked it but not branded itYes Your Dukeiness

Hi Sally,
I just wanted a good mobile for little cost so I'm looking forward to it arriving sometime today. Thought my mate was on Virgin mobile & I was looking forward to making these 3p/min calls to her but just found out she's actually on, yes, you guessed, 02 !! So, I have to pay 35p/min to speak with her, not that I do much but she's not got a landline. Just as well she's only a mile away. I'm surprised she's using 02 as she's on PAYG & is ALWAYS chatting on the mobile. Must cost her a small fortune.

Virgin charge 15p a minute to call 0844/0871 numbers see

So you can use any of the 0844/0871 gateway numbers mentioned here to make x-net mobile calls for 15p a minute.:D

I'm lost ! I don't understand WHAT to do EXACTLY to call my friend on her 02 mobile, normally 35p/min ! For instance IF her mobile number was 0792 279 28 *** (last three removed for her security) WHAT do I need to call ? AND can I put ALL the number needed to ring to get that tariff in my contacts or do I need to just load her usual number & when calling prefix her usual number with a certain code ? God, so much I don't know. Thanks hurrah.

U save one of the 0871 gateway numbers mentioned in the call checker. Lets say https://www.telediscount.co.uk 0871 999 71 71.
You dial that number and when it asks you to enter the number you enter the mobile number you are calling and press the (hash) # key, your then connected.
The charges for calls to the gateway numbers will come out of your normal Virgin payg credit. You pay nowt to Telediscount.
Note although your only be charged 15p a minute by Virgin,a min call charge will apply if you dont get through, as you start paying for call as soon as you hit announcement.
PS: the announcement will say you are paying 10p a minute but thats only from a BT Landline.0 -
