You know I'm feeling really rotten today Adrian...

It's my birthday and my stomach is playing up :( - again. I had black stool on Thursday but fortunately it just lasted a day

But reading how well you are doing has inspired me to get my wee act together and put some stuff on ebay

    Well done you :T

Keep us posted on your progress. And well done you for finding cheap fun things to do with your daughter? What about getting the podcast for the couch to 5 k program now...

I'm so proud of you ...you've really brightened my day

    Thanks so much

  • Hi adrian just read your posts, pleased things are starting to get better for you. As you will have realised, it takes a while to really change the thinking & behaving patterns that get us into a low state.

I hope you get to see your daughter regularly, she will think you're wonderful whatever :)

One thing that helped me(along with a short dose of anti-depressants) was to focus on any small thing I had achieved (as I used to feel the weight of everything I hadn't done/thought I should be doing). And I have also discovered how diet can affect my mood. You will hopefully find for yourself if there's anything in particular that can affect you. (and listen to your own body, rather than dieticians if you feel they're wrong :))

  • Really loved the last two replies to my post but to be honest i love all replies even when i see people that have viewed my post it gives me a great deal of satisfaction just reading my story and believe me it is far from over i am continuing to do small bits of excercise, healthy eating , but most of all i have been open with the people that mean a lot to me and been honest with them just to say hey i am going through a rough patch and i need a little bit of help even my work mates have been there for me even my manager i still am on the antidepressants and i go back to the doctors in a months time and hopefully i will get my appointment with a counsellor soon but i am so looking forward to making those small changes as i go on my journey to be debt free and losing weight and coming more healthier in body and mind.

  • Hi adrian :) i too suffer with depression, i've recently been through a pretty bad spell but have changed meds so hopefully on the up...you sound like you are doing very well so far, i find the things that help me out of my 'black hole' when i'm low are,
*having a good clean & de-clutter of the house (tidy house, tidy mind)
    *lots of early nights
    * taking an hour to myself AWAY from my children (how ever much i love them, i need 'me' time)
    *eating properly & taking vitamins!
*no alcohol. I used to get a bottle of wine if i was having a down day, which invariably made me feel worse afterwards so now i save money by not buying it, watch a good comedy and have an early night!
*exercise!!! Exercise is the best for combatting spurts of depression, unfortunately i haven't quite mastered this one. I know i *should* go for a run/walk/ whatever and get some fresh air when feeling down but i only do this probably 3/10 at the mo!!

I hope you have a good afternoon with you daughter :) and hope you don't mind me jumping in with my two pence worth
