elona - yes, this is the same FT teacher who said you couldn't make cakes without eggs ... then told them that they couldn't alter today's recipes because she didn't want and WWII twists and now .. have baked tea :rotfl: We've just eaten it and I have to say it was rather good 8/10 to my lad, but when he next makes it at home ... I'll teach him how to do it *properly*

Amie - I think it will be Jack too, it's vote to *keep* and I don't know that he has enough friends on the outside to vote for him. Yes, Leo is getting on my nerves a bit too ... he's such an 'old woman'!!!! I shall watch with a chuckle and a glass of wine later ;)

Donna sorry to hear about the nightmare neighbours, pleased you DP stuck up for himself. Some people just have to start don't they. Hope Mrs Minx's little DS is better soon.

Donna, sorry we must have been posting at the same time.

You've got to have a bit of pity for people like her. To go through life with that much bitterness and venom is not healthy (her not you!). You have your lovely family, hold your head up high, don't give her the reaction she wants. Have a big glass of wine and a relax with hubby tonight and be glad you're not her.

    Evening everyone :hello:

Huge (((hugs))) to anniestar and her husband. I suffered a confidence crisis in my teaching (still going through it) and I know how it makes you feel. However, he sounds like he's in the best school. Can he write down what makes him feel less confident in his teaching - and also why he loves it? :)

My day of supply teaching was quite uneventful. There's always the odd child that is *interesting* (read, pain in the behind :D), but that's what you get everywhere, isn't it? I'm in yet another different school tomorrow, but it's one where a friend teaches, so I'll be able to have a catch-up with her at lunchtime. :)

I feel quite proud of myself tonight. I had to pop into the mega-huge Tesco Extra this evening, which normally means that I spend far more than the list in my hand - though I have been getting better recently. I came out exactly with nothing more than what I needed from there, but then popped into WHSmiths in the same complex. Suffice to say, their (lovely!) Christmas wrapping paper was in the sale at 69p per roll, matching gift tags at 49p and nice Christmas cards at 69p per box (already got nearly enough for next Christmas, so only got one!). So, all I need to do now is to find the presents to put in the wrapping paper! DH will be so proud of me......

Supper tonight is spag bol, which has been defrosting today whilst we've been at work. I think this was the very scrummy batch that I put a large quantity of red wine in . However, last week we thought we were having spag bol, until I opened up the box to discover the distinct smell of chilli con carne :o Ah! The roulette that is our freezer! :D

    By all

    Hello Everyone

Hugs to all those who are feeling down at the moment. anniestar & DH, I feel for you both.

It's been a quiet day for me today, I had my Tesco shop delivered so I have a nice full fridge/freezer/pantry that should see me through for a month apart from my weekly farm shop trip for veg. Fingers crossed, it looks like I should come in on budget!

I also bought a piece of brisket so I am going to try on Saturday a recipe that I saw listed on this board for cooking the beef in the SC with red wine vinegar and sugar etc.....it sounds delicious.

I made a cherry cake yesterday, and I wonder if I can freeze it, and if so, how? Would it be OK if I just wrap it in tinfoil?

I'll be off now, I wish to read some more of this board, have a go on my keyboard before it gets too late (still need to buy headphones) and then I'll be listening to the football on the radio.

    Take care,

    Hi All

Been keeping an eye on you all today at work. Had to come home a bit early as I had an awful headache - we had an awful woman in this afternoon with one of those shouty speak at you voices. By 4.00 I was drained - supposed to finish at 5.00 but colleagues said - go! Now feeling OK with one G+T and a glass of red still in the bottle for later.

So sorry to hear about those and their relatives who are poorly. Also DLB your ongoing day must have been awful. Also anyone who has failed driving test.

Had a lovely dinner - half price pork steaks with a sprinkle of garlic salt and Thai 7 Spice cooked in virgin oil. Chops slightly tough - maybe could have done with a bit longer but we enjoyed.

Just had a weekend invitation to friends, leaving this Friday after work and returning some time Sunday afternoon/evening. We have said yes as he is a wonderful cook and I now don't have to think about fresh food shopping! Also I have just dived into washing basket and got a full dark load on. Trouble now that it is just the two of us it takes a while to get enough for a load but then it seems I am doing 4 loads back to back and then a huge ironing. [Edit however, I rememeber when kids in teenage years and clothes only on for half an hour and then in wash! I used to be a bit naughty and iron and put away instead of washing - they never knew! The jeans especially.] However, I remember the days when I had the nappy pail constantly in the bathroom some 28 years ago! Mind you a line of lovely white nappies blowing in the wind was so satisfying.

I must confess to having a cleaning lady (although just two of us) but with working full-time and grandparenting duties we can afford it. The money we save elsewhere is huge and more than covers what we pay her. Anyone else paying for cleaning - what is your current rate. We pay £6 per hour and she is wonderful. If I have a problem at work and have to work late etc or get behind with the ironing, she takes it home and tells me very honestly how long it has taken. It is a bit extra for her over the cleaning and takes pressure off me if a busy week and then DGSs at weekend. DH very good about a lot of things but he does draw the line at ironing.

I am now rambling with tiredness. Hope to come back to you all later after a wee power nod (and the red wine).
