We've finished fitting all the alarms now after the break in next door so hopefully we shall sleep a little sounder tonight. It's very scary for us with DH working nights. We can't really afford one of those top notch jobbies so I'm glad we bought some when Lidl had them for sale. Shame it's taken this for DH to fit them but at least it's done now. I'm also going to start leaving the back hallway light on at night so it's obvious the house is occupied as the police think next door was only broken into because it's been unoccupied for so long. Luckily we have an energy saving bulb in there so it shouldn't cost us too much more. I wish we still had the dog.

    Bummer md123 .

I failed my test because I was asked to do a 3point turn on a narrow road - it turned into about a 10 point turn, and I panicked and I eventually had to ask the examiner which way to turn the wheel!!! It didn't help that there was a really long queue of traffic watching and waiting for me to get out of the way.

I didn't take any driving lessons again for about 10 years and then passed first time (it was a dream of a day though - I think everyone was on holiday and all of the traffic lights were on green and my 3 point turn was on a road as wide as the mouth of the Thames)

You'll definitely pass it next time.

Anniestar - I hope your Hubbies confidence starts to pick up soon. He's been through a lot, but it does sound like things might be heading in the right direction at last.

Hey it took me 4 times to pass, but i got there in the end, and i think iv now forgot i have legs!!!
Dh passed 1st time about 7 months after me after having only 10 lessons which he went on about for ages LOL But he had been riding a motorbike for 9 years before he passed his car test so had more knowledge of the roads than me.

He has always said everyone should pass a motorbike test as it makes you alot more aware of other road users.
He just thinks im a crap driver!!!LOL

Good luck though hang in there, it was the best thing i ever did!!

AnnieStar - wish I could come round and make you and your OH a cup of tea and some cake.

DLB - keep us updated. Hope you get sorted.

md123 - my driving instructor was an ex-bus driver (explains a lot with my driving) and one of his tips was (if you can) have a quick look to see if there's a queue for the bus, or people walking down the aisle, then you can kind of guage whether you have time to overtake or not. It seems complicated when you're learning (what with watching everything else) but I still use the tip and it does help.

Been at work all day. Off tomorrow though cos DD is starting new nursery. Hope she gets on OK. We'll see.

Need to iron tonight (I ignored it all last night). Also going to check to see what Moggins has planned for me. Be gentle!

    take care all.

md124 - commiserations on your unsuccessful driving test attempt ((hugs)) Do not despair, it's all a learning curve and with determination, you *will* pass it one day! My Mum learned to drive when she was 58yo and several attempts at the driving test. Funnily enough, she was a far better driver than my half sister who boasted that she'd passed first time! Onwards and upwards my girl - at least you can have a drink tonight and not worry that you'll be risking drinking and driving ;)

moggins - at least dh has done it "before the horse bolted" scenario, so he deserves a :T :T :T I know only two well what you mean about feeling a bit vulnerable with dh out at work on nights ((hugs)) I hope you sleep easier.

mrs mix - oh your poor ds!!!! ((get well soon)) I'm never sure who feels worse in those kind of incidents, the child themselves or us the parents but I hope you are both destressing this evening. Maybe a bit of comfort eating of those luscious hm flapjacks? Oats are great for comfort food (and destressing!)

Well, J is very upbeat, all things considered and was extolling the merits of the jacuzzi at the hospice, even though it took her over a week to have a dip because she "didn't want to be a trouble" - typical of her!

D12yo has brought home a half cooked cheese and potato pie - Food Tech Teacher took it out before it was cooked because "you'll want to reheat it at home" - er ... yes, but we have a new fangled gadget called a m-i-c-r-o-w-a-v-e which is great for reheating *fully* cooked dishes :wall: So, not too sure that I'm up for eating a half baked cheesy potato pie that hasn't seen the fridge for a few hours  Think it's going to be a case of a morsel to taste the success with and then the chicken will enjoy the "leftovers" :o:o:o

D11yo is having to wait for a new sim card for his phone - that'll teach him to go messing about trying to change settings ;):D

Need to get on with something for tea to go along with the half baked cheesy spud dish (Lord, please forgive me for not being more enthusiastic!)

    Enjoy your evenings :D:D:D

The food tech teacher sounds "loopy!"

    Scruffy

If you have no short term memory - could you jot notes on a board or large piece of paper near front door?? Then tick things off as they happen.

Made gammon in slow cooker and more soup and special omelette for picky 12 year old.

dlb your neighbour sounds a nightmare. re your fence - i know you want to stand your ground as it is her in the wrong, but if it was me i would sort the fence on my side, mainly because it has gone on so long and is affecting your childrens playtime in the garden. the fence could be strengthened by adding posts at each of her fence joins (3 foot metposts and posts approx 10 pounds each from focus) which could be strengthened further by putting 2 by 1 between each post as a topguard. might be worth considering if you want the aggro to end and your kids to get their garden back.

Big Brother.. eviction tonight.. i hope that Jackie goes ,but i dont think she will. Jack will go i think as he hasnt said or done much so far. I think that Jackie was horrible when she was doing Micheal Jackson impersonations, i felt sorry for Jamaine he looked upset, and at the end of the day whatever Micheal has or hasnt done he is still his brother ( not that im a fan or sticking up for Micheal, i dont like him,) I wish that Leo Sayer would just walk... hes getting on my nerves !!!
