If the offending poo tends to be in the same spot, stick a twig in the ground (I used a sprig of holly). This will break the habit - worked for us, we got some whoppers on our front lawn, and our son was under two so we were glad to eradicate the problem, too0

Which is precisely the sort of non-answer that I was expecting. So I'll ask it again. Why, in the context that it was used, was the observation stupid please?
Pot meet kettle.
Cheers
ok, as you seem a little slow I'll illucidate:
how exactly would you expect someone to prove that the cat cr*p in their garden was from your cat? They cannot.
However, it is reasonable to assume that your cat must cr*p and that this must be done somewhere the local of where you and your festering pet live.
Ergo it is safe to assume that said cr*p and your cat is a match and if it is not then your festering pet is at least within the 'clan' of the other festering cats that exist in the neighbourhood.
Thus no proof is needed but rather the fact that the association of the above facts leads to the conclusion that you are partially (if not fully) responsible without the need to prove through DNA that the cat cr*p belongs to your festing animal that you allow to wander humans' homes polluting.
Finally - I state again that your comment was stupid and I now have sufficient indication that this was unlikely to be a one off occurance. As is a tale, so is life: not how long it is, but how good it is, is what matters.0 -
A question for all cat owners:
If I, or any other person, wandered onto your property (front or back garden) did a dump and then walked off leaving it there would you consider that ok? I ask because all of the justifications and responses I have read here (and on other threads) apply equally to me as they do to cats.
Now imagine that this happened every day and some days your kids put their hands in it or it was trodden into your house or was smeared onto your home grown food. Would you just clean it up and consider it to be nature?
Now imagine I decide to sit on the top of your car with my football boots on and then walk off not bothered whether I have scratched or damaged the roof or paintwork. Would this be ok too?
Take some responsibility for your animals and don't be surprised if those around you get so fed up with your cats behaviour (and your attitude) that they take matters into their own hands. I am not at all surprised that sales of anti-freeze are on the rise.
I wonder whether the small claims courts would be the best place to claim back costs associated with sorting out the problem....As is a tale, so is life: not how long it is, but how good it is, is what matters.0 -

For my part I now have sufficient evidence to show that you have lost the capacity to think in circumstances when the red mist of "cat" descends. You sound like the Queen of Hearts - "sentence first, verdict afterwards"

Thanks. I hope to have you and your moggy as a neighbour at some point in the future so we can resolve it between the three of us.
Should that happen I hope you are familiar with the taste and texture of cat excrement. I suspect you may be given the flavour of what you have just posted and the way it trips off your tongue.
anyway - time for you to let the cat out isn't it?As is a tale, so is life: not how long it is, but how good it is, is what matters.0 -
Did I say I actually owned a cat - no I didn't. I see you are well adjusted to avoiding answering a very simple question which would not have come up had you bothered to read the post under scrutiny properly in the first place. So are you going to consider my "stupid" comment in the context of which it was written or not?

Keystone,
As I mentioned in a previous post, only 6 houses here, no problem nigh on 20 year till new people moved next door. No other cat owners till then.
Yes I have personally viewed 2 off 3 cats sitting on each of soft top roof of our, at the time sportscars. Immediately after the deed, I had the neighbour round to view scratch marks to paintwork and, paw prints were very clear on roof material, right down to ginger cat hair from of course, their ginger tom. when I said this was not acceptable, reply was "buy a couple of car covers" restraint on my part was much in demand.
Re: poo/crap, view them often roaming OUR garden, using it as a loo, time I get out there, they are off.
Hence why I now deposit waste from their cats at their door, if he has a problem, he only needs to knock on my door to discuss why I do this, he/ they do not, so I continue till the pests are gone, or they give them a better home. Anyway, time to put out the blue milk

Welda
Thanks - they were wrong in their attitude about the cars IMHO and if you know for certain that its their cat doing the poo in your garden then perhaps the deposition is understandable as its an entirely different matter I stated to pannyywhatsit above. Trouble is that the law in this country recognises cats only as feral animals unlike dogs which are controllable and for which the owners can be and are held responsible for their actions. Thats not much help to you I know.
I find Panchenlama's vehemence interesting seeing as how Buddhism honours the cat – as well as all other animals – as sentient beings capable of suffering and joy, living creatures that seek life and happiness. From this perspective then, all creatures - and not just Americans - have the inalienable right to the pursuit of happiness.

Morning,
I agree, the law can be an !!! for various reasons. I get no comfort from throwing poo around, believe me I don't, I prefer a peaceful existence to be honest.
I should also mention, Mrs W has been not too well for over a year now, so weather permits, she has been getting great solace from our garden, some pretty good crops were raised, but we also lost a few due to purely toilet action, bad enough returning to a sick wife, let alone an upset one, who has seen her efforts basically destroyed.
Anyways, enough said, apart from, I had you down as a cat owner, Persian variety
