I agree with the posters who say send them home for dinner. When they arrive tell them you will be having tea at so and so time and they will have to go home for thier dinners then. My DD often has friends round and I usually ask them if they would like to stay for tea, or I will say we are having so and so for tea and I haven't bought enough for any extras ( if they have not been invited) so you will have to go at 6 or whatever. They are always fine with this.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:
