cheap and cheerful..... I never thought I'd be a TalkTalk Customer, however house mates wanted it. I have to say its working fine and is costing me very little :-)
TalkTalk is great when it works! Any problems and it sounds like a game trying to get them sorted.0 -
This company is the worst I have ever dealt with! After having major trouble getting them to fix an outside fault and subsequently being left without phone or internet for 12 days a couple of months ago we decided to change provider. We have been with TT for about 5 years and had problems along the way but this was the last straw. I phoned them on Monday to cancel the line and suprise suprise they are not going to let us go without sqeezing the last few quid that they can out of us. Apparently I took an 18month contract out with them last November and so I owe £70 to disconnect!!!! Errr nope, I do not recall doing this and also I do not hold myself to 18 month contracts for anything as I consider this to be too long. It was, so they say, a verbal contract so I am hoping they do not have a leg to stand on with a signature.
I would never ever recommend TT to anyone, I think you are better off paying a bit more and getting a better service. In protest I shall also be going elsewhere for my mobile phone after also being a Carphone Warehouse customer for as long as I can remember!:jThanks to everyone who post competitions/freebies :jStarted comping June 2011 and wins/freebies so far are..JLS cd Tabasco sauce Toothpaste Simple eye corrector pen Armarni Sport Code Bio effect serum Charles Worthington hair straightening kit Lancome mascara Rimmel mascara £50 gift card Breakfast Cereal0 -
My 18 months is up next week and it cant come quick enough, I am not even going to migrate away as dont trust them to do even that , so instead will be cancelling the line and taking out a new line with post office ( dont want BT either- way too many strings for their free install), without question the worst company i have ever dealt with and that includes 3!0

Hi
Just want to give quick feedback of our experience.
Ordered on 3rd July (new line installation requiring engineer visit)
Phone line installation set for 18th July - then got a text saying it would be 22nd July.
Engineer came 9am on the 22nd - installed the phone line. A bit disappointed he has fixed the phone box to the window sill (i.e. the plate is flat on its back!) and he re-used the old tatty box, didn't install a new BT plate.
We were unsure if we were going to ever recieve a welcome pack and router on time.
Although to give them their dues, the welcome pack and router arrived 7th Aug with an activation date 13th Aug.
Today I have setup the equipment (internet via ethernet worked instantly) however had to sit through 20 minutes of the CDROM just to enable the wireless (disabled by default). NB The CDROM will NOT run on Windows 7 at present.
Talktalk predicted we would get 5.5mb
Connected was a bit flakey to begin with (kept disconnecting) was only getting 3mb this morning.
However it settled down within an hour and sync speed was upto 8mb!! Actual download speed around 6mb.
I must say that now it is up and running, I am thoroughly impressed!!
DO believe talktalk when they say upto 6 weeks to activate
Unlike me hoping it would be early - my fault i know!!0 -
Hi Darreb2385,
I'm sorry to hear about the length of time it took to get your services fully active on the line. Good to hear that everything is working well now the service is active though.
Northern Rock,
TalkTalk do not control migrations to another provider - this is completed by BT Openreach so if you want to migrate to a new provider you just need to contact them to see if they can take your service from TalkTalk.
Cheers

As a long-standing freeserve/wanadoo/orange customer with a broadband and phone package I was enticed to change to TT by the prospect of substantial savings. BIG MISTAKE. I've spent loads of time and become quite stressed by the whole business.
To summarise;
Placed order 17 July (by phone after my web application crashed at the last hurdle). Expected "go live" date 6th August.
Confirmation letter dated 20th July received, including the promise that I would be kept informed of progress (unfulfilled)
Phoned 10th August to check progress. Order had never been "put on the system" and therefore had not entered the queue, due to error (unspecified).
Promised "reprovisioning team" would contact me within 5 working days. It did not happen.
18th August; phoned again - passed from Customer Services to Sales and back again. Much conflicting information and advice. Nothing from my previous week's dealings had been logged on the system. Now have three sides of A4 notes recording a totally inadequate service. Requests to speak to a manager with the capacity to sort out my problem have been disregarded. It seems that I have to join the queue at the same point as customers applying today, a month after I placed my order.
What a useless company! And they expect me to use a premium rate telephone number to chase my order. Luckily the landline number given on saynoto0870 (super website) works, but not the freephone numbers.0 -
Hi Jehu,
Sorry to hear you are having problems. I've replied to your PM with some contact details for my team.
Cheers

Received a call from TT today to ask if I would like to renew my contract for another 18 months (didnt realise it must be up). Offered 50% discount on my current call package for 2 months plus free caller display. They did try to sell me some other extras which I politely declined, but I am more than happy to carry on with them.
Said they will confirm in writing in a few days.

My 18 months will be up in Oct and I will certainly be staying with them but on a rolling monthly contract.
What they offered you wouldn`t interest me or a half price/free wireless router, so month to month will suit me.
No doubt EmmaL will tell me if i can`t.0 -
Hi Alared,
You can stay on a rolling contract if that suits you best
Cheers
