New Talktalk poll; feedback needed, good and bad

We signed up with Talk Talk last May and STILL have problems. They keep cutting off our broadband, we experience almost weekly phone problems, they cut off our voicemail...the list is endless. The staff are mostly untrained and hopeless. I am consistently promised £10 as a goodwill gesture - which never materialises. I have been promised a new modem, as the one they supplied has a loose connection - that's never materialised either. When I tried to leave them they said they'd disconnect me within 48 hours. I protested at that as BT said it was impossible to transfer my number in that time and I'd lose the number. It took me around 4 hours on the phone to get the disconnection halted. I feel trapped with a useless company. Hours are spent trying to contact customer services. NTL was so much better than this!0

Joined up july ish last year and had to wait a while (8 weeks) to get the broadband connection. I stayed with tesco until we got transferred over. I lost all connection for 2 days when the exchange got unbundled but then got it back got connected (using my own wireless router) and have had no problems or need for customer service since. Only thing to remember is make sure you dial the prefix number when your calling the folks in Spain or it costs.....DOH!0

I couldn't get it for free due to the area i live in ,so pay £10 a month. Starting up was terrible. My current supplier was cut off two weeks before talk talk went live without anyone telling me. Despite loads of calls i got no where. So had to do without internet access for 2 weeks until my modem and disc arrived. However they did give me my password etc over the phone! Fat lot of use that was!
Had a few problems with breaks in service - normally i have to call once a month to the expensive technical support line that keeps you on hold for 10 minutes at least before telling you there is a fault! Haven't had to call them for 2 months now tho.
Overdraft - £3000 5%
Halifax C/C - £3,200 0% 08/07
Virgin C/C - £1,500 0% 06/07
Mortgage - £61,214.68 overpaid £700
Olymic Challenge - £597.240 -
Was helping my Aunt setup her e-mail over Christmas. Had to make 2 calls as we had not written down some details. Calls where answered really quickly by a friendly lady from the UK. Excluding a few teething details, we've been very pleased with the service and would recommend it to anyone who wants the best value deal around.0

I've been a TalkTalk customer for years, and a "free broadband" patron for over a year.
We've had far fewer problems, all in all, than my Mum gets with Telewest. Whenever I've needed to speak to Customer Service, I've not had trouble getting through. I find the staff most helpful & courteous....In fact I managed to get technical support twice from people on the freefone number; rather than having to redial via a premium rate number!
Incidentally, the second of these two occassions was apparently triggered by their server struggling with our type of wireless router. The gentleman I spoke to told me of a memo he'd received that morning explaining the reason for my problem, and he requested our make/model number, so that he could feedback to the tech department. He said we'd be sorted within 48 hours - but I'm pleased to say it was fixed within the day!

IF YOU ARE TEMPTED TO JOIN TALKTALK LIKE I WAS BY IT BEING THE CHEAPEST PLEASE DON'T - THE STRESS AND HASSLE AIN'T WORTH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Talktalk are the most appalling service I have EVER encountered! Joined up in August and still hadn't been connected to broadband by November despite having spent several hours to people in India/South Africa who couldn't understand my accent and would disconnect you/tell you a different story about when you going to be connected.
Got fed up and cancelled only to then be bombarded with letters/phone calls etc telling me my 'go live' broadband date.
I am still four months later receiving bills despite having changed back to BT. They claim I have a 'problem account' and cannot disconnect me (although how I am connected when no calls going through them I fail to understand!) Customer services staff keep advising me to cancel my direct debit which I have done only for a threatening letter to come in the following week.
Letter has been sent to their Serious Complaints Department so the saga continues....0 -
Whatever you do, please do not choose to use Talktalk broadband. (unless you don't want to actually have a phone line and broadband that works)
I had been with BT for about 14 years for my phone line and 5 years for broadband. In all this time I did not have one problem with them or our line. I've been with talktalk for about 4 months and my phone line and broadband has been down too many times to count!!
When I have phoned up their customer service department, at times I have been waiting for almost an hour to speak to somebody and when they eventually answer either they can't understand me or I can't understand them, because they are from a foreign country.
Now without broadband yet again, (so far for 5 days) was promised on Saturday last week they would sort it out on Sunday but heard nothing from them. Phoned several times since but haven't managed to actually speak to anyone. As soon as I possibly can I will be cancelling my account with them!!
I don't know how these people have a nerve to call themselves a company!!! :mad:MSE_Martin wrote:What's this all about?
TalkTalk's 'free broadband' package took the market by storm and on paper is a clear winner on price (see Cheapest Home Phones article). Initially customer feedback was very strong, but by July and August reports were coming through that it couldn't cope with capacity - and many users are stuck without broadband.
Therefore last October, I carried out a poll to survey MoneySavers experiences. The results were better than expected, showing that while a very substantial number had suffered problems, they were still in the minority (See previous TalkTalk poll)
Why a new poll?
Four months is a long time for a new service. As this is a very competitive product, its important to know whether its working for people and to see if the product now is more reliable.
Please spare thirty second to answer the above if you have/applied for TalkTalk 'free broadband'

i have not been able to send or receive emails through outlook express since dec 16th.talk talks customer service keeps telling me they do not know when their service will be back on.I also keep on losing broadband connection so i am going back to ntl on saturday0

The fact that there have now been TWO polls discussing how cr*p they are should be indication enough that they are not worth bothering with. No other company has had this dubious pleasure.
I'm disappointed that they continue to be recommended on this site - does Martin get a good deal from them or something?
I've been waiting since May 2006 and guess what - still no broadband
They really are proof that nothing comes free in life
Save yourself hassle and pay a bit more for RELIABLE internet access. These cowboys are not worth wasting time on0
