  • I've been a talk talk customer since the deal was first publicised on this site and done it thro Quidco to get the commision back for meself ( ho-ho-ho ). Had some problems tho to get my commision as Quidco only pay out to UK Ip addresses, and turns out, like many other Talk Talk customers, I have been given a USA Ip address !!! Also find that when connecting all seems to be Ok , and icon confirms the connection, but really there is no connection.........sometimes have to cancel/connect several times to get a proper connection. Many folk I deal with online think I'm up to some kinda scam when I claim to live in Scotland ( I do really ) but my IP address places me in downtown Alabama. If u into downloading a lot, you will find the bandwidth severely strangled during the daytime too. The £21 bill is never £21 always about £5 - £10 over so make sure you dont fone the 0870 or 08457 no's....have a look for the local or free number here
  • I have to say that since I switched telephone provider, I am very pleased with the service of Talk 3 International. I did not have to wait very long to receive the service. I am quite pleased with both Telephone and Broadband and since then, I never had any problem [touch wood]. Technical queries were answered promptly. BRAVO!
  • Am I in the minority? I applied for the broadband package in May 2006 and received my modem and everything I needed within a few weeks. We were supposed to go live in August, but actually got up and running at the beginning of July last year. Any time we have had problems (the phone line was disconnected!) I have found the support staff very helpful. They even ring me straight back to save me running up my bill!

If I have a problem with e-mail, I just contact them, and it is sorted within a day.

Honestly - no problems, I am saving money - my monthly bill is averaging about £24 per month. My bills with BT were about £90 per 1/4.

And no, I don't work for talktalk. (PS - I think they have just been taken over by AOL as my home page is showing AOL TalkTalk at the top!)

:hello: I have been with Talk Talk for several months but unable to get Broadband in this area at all so I was still with BT for that. I recently received what appears to be a really good offer from BT if I would go back to them fully. After careful consideration I have agreed to return and my Broadband has been upgraded and all costs, including calls, lowered.Only time will tell if I have made the correct decision but I am willing to try it. The offer was made personally over the phone and was for years of loyalty to BT they said.:T
Maybe I'll get a long service medal too!! :A
Life is not a dress rehearsal!
  • Ordered at the end of October (2? th) and was activated on November 6th. A couple of weeks later I received the modem. Originally during sginup the Broadband activation date was November 26th
Anyway being impatient I had already created my admin account on-line and found the number to retrieve my broadband password (recognises your home number and automatically tells you your password).
So all set, installed with no problem and connected and away I went.
... To this date I still have not received a letter confirming my username or password!!
Everything was OK, but did fail to connect on a number of occasions. The Assist and GO software does not work with Internet Explorer 7 (it will not launch Firefox either) so this was no help, I queried customer services and broadband was activated the same time as the phone, so an impressive 2 weeks transfer.
In the end I removed the Firewall and Antivirus software that you have for a free trial, just did not work for me, prevented talking to the modem and thus prevented connection.

So, you can retrieve your password from you home phone, username is yournumber@talktalk.net.
Don't install the free firewall and antivirus, but do install third party software.

Currently I (and many others) only get 2MB broadband not the publicised 8MB, you can ask to be upgraded but many report connection issues as the system can't do 8MB and thus revert back to 2MB!!!
The talktalk router works fine, not all third party ones will though.

All in all I pay for the broadband, at £10 a month i'm happy
  • I joined right at the start of this and i had one issue with connecting to the internet, the issue was i was stupid! I didnt notice the new icon on the desktop to connect. Doh. The only other issue i had was the direct debit date being hard set and not able to change it, but eventually sorted that when they said you can now pay by bill payment/standing order over the internet although you do still have to have the direct debit setup on your account or they charge you extra. So i basically pay in advance now £22 a month, just to add a little balance to keep it in credit and its all good now. Ive never had ANY issues with speed or losing the connection although my exchange only gives me 1mb speed, but that was the same with BT. So all in all, im very happy with what ive got.
  • I was with onetel for 2 years, no problem. Moved to talk talk no real problem. Upgraded to 8mb BB and nothing but problems. It spluttered along for a few months, dropped connections, no dial tone, very slow response. Eventually it stopped working completely about 8 weeks ago. Spoke to the Indian call centre and was told that BT was modifying the exchange. Spoke to BT and they knew nothing about it, talk talk were fobbing me off. 8 weeks of phone calls to people who read from a script in very poor English, proper technical support closes at 8pm, when the conversation gets too technical they cut you off, promises to phone back are not carried through. Eventually I asked to be put through to the cancellation department, sorry they close at 8pm. Phoned them yesterday morning to cancel and miraculously an engineer is now being despatched to the exchange to check the LLU connection. This will take 7 days. The phone side is fine but the BB is non existant. Asked me not to cancel until they tried to correct the fault, but I've transferred the line back to BT and am going to try Sky £5/m unlimited national and international calls and £10/m for 16mb BB. Sorry to go on but it's so frustrating to get on the computer after the kids are bathed and put to bed to find theres no BB and no technical support.
  • Located in Aberdeen & did not have broadband previously.
Applied for Talk3 in August 2006. and purchased their modem. Broadband was active in 3 weeks and the phone changed from BT one week later. There were no problems getting broadband up and running. Occasionally we can't make a broadband connection which can be frustrating and the download speed isn't wonderful but overall we find the service ok for our present light usage.
The telephone facilities do not seem to be as good as BT, eg 1471 only lists the last call and there is no control of the ringing period (short, medium long or off).
Overall it seems a good deal but we will re-assess it at the end of the 18 month contract.
  • I switched to TalkTalk mid last year. Once connected (3 months later than my estimated date) the service has been ok (not to mention the massive savings which is why most people switched in the first place). Unfortunately since before Christmas I have lost all of the saved e-mails in my personal folder (receipts, invoices, generally important e-mails) and customer service took 7 days to answer my e-mail regarding this and they still haven’t rectified the problem. Still as long as I get them back eventually I'm happy for a little inconvenience to save roughly £200 a year.
  • Hi
Has anyone managed to cancel their contract with Talk Talk and did you have to pay the £70 disconnection charge, it's such an awful service and we have had all the same problems as everyone else, we would like to put an end to this saga as swiftly and easily as possible so that we can change to a reliable service like NTL, any help would be appreciated.
    Many Thanks
