My OH pays for the general household bills (it is his house) and I do all the food shopping. I will get shouted at for leaving my mobile phone on charge overnight, or when I dared to buy an alarm clock that didn't run on batteries, yet it is OK for him to throw food away willy-nilly, or complain like heck when I don't buy the premium branded grocery items!
He especially hates it when I buy own-brand toilet paper (this really bugs me), but hasn't noticed when I have recently started buying own-brand (or even value) products and putting them in the premium packaging.... :rotfl:wonder how long I will get away with it?

My OH is pretty good with money & spends very little on himself. The only thing that does drive me up the wall is not claiming his expenses back from work on time - we must lose hundreds of £ a year. He also pays for his work mobile phone £30ish a month most of which he can claim back as he makes very few personal calls/texts but hasn't done so once in 2 years. Just says he'll get round to it but doesn't have the time. I've offered to do it for him but then he gets huffy!
My ex-DH did that as well. Between taxi fares, meals, train tickets etc he must be out a fortune but then, I'm the one who is on these forums and not him so guess who the MSE one is?0 -

and sneaking things into the trolley when we do a food shop - 'coz it only costs a £1' - yes dear, but it's when you buy ten things that only costs a £1, that's when we go over budget!! Lately he's been working on days I do a food shop, so it normally comes in under budget!

My husband is an excellent saver to the point that he has just bought me a new car and paid cash for it. The problem is that he is able to tell me exactly what every penny is spent on. What other men would know that their daughters wedding this June cost £9982 exactly.0

Mines is another who will open the fridge and eat whatever, even if its earmarked for lunch/dinner. He'l also eat all the lunch crisps/chocolate in 3 days, so then has to buy individual bags/bars at work everyday. Makes me mad.The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0

Hubby buys stuff on ebay to sell at profit. Each thing he buys he does sell at profit but has bought so much he is constantly around £4K in debt to the household fund. He can't resist bargains so running out of money and space in the house!0

He'll ask me if we can afford to buy something, usually a DVD, I'll say no and then he'll buy it anyway, along with other stuff, again, usually DVDs. But the most annoying one he ever did was come home on Christmas Eve a couple of years ago, with a blu-ray player. Now, this was when they first came out and the shop must have seen him coming, because, all in, he spent £800 on the thing which we are still paying off. I tell ya, he was lucky he saw Christmas Day!Planning on being debt free by Sept 2015Sept 2014: £4396.16Feb 2015: £2150.070

I went to Primarni the other day and spent about £90 but I bought new night wear, pair of shoes, make up, about four complete outfits plus outfits for my son with shoes. Therefore it may sound like a lot but for what I got I have my outfits for the next year probably all ready to go! Anyway, my husband went out yesterday after going shopping for something to wear on Saturday night. He spent £150 on three items! I didn't say anything but I was gobsmacked! Yes, they are better quality than the things I bought but at least I can mix & match. He literally has one outfit. And to all those people who will say oh you must go shopping more than him so spending more money; this is not the case. We go about the same & I always tend to go to Primani as I want more combinations of clothing.
But no, that is not his most extravagant purchase! Loooool

Been an early adopter of MSE it took me a looooong time to convert her but we are almost there.
She use to have lunch in the expensive sany shop at work, now I convinced to do like I do, there is a big Tesco behind work where one can pick up lots of lunch items from the reduced shelf, from £4/day to about £1.5/day :T
She use to be a sucker for shiny pretty packages (i.e Tesco's finest etc') this site proved her the items are usually the same inside.
She is very generous and can't say no if someone ask for money (at the door, in the street etc'), we got to an arrangement where she gives away to charity by DD now and mostly avoid handing out cash (apart from church donations). We give away about £50/month to charity but I am not sure how long we will be able to do this once the child arrives.
We do car sharing now, but for a long time she use to drive alone in the same direction as mine so she can leave the house a bit later. Once Diesel prices started to spiral up she got the message.:TFive exclamation marks the sure sign of an insane mind!!!!!
