DW will spend £00's on clothes for the kids in the sale on the grounds that it was such a bun fight that she had to buy everything and will then return what is surplus/doesn't fit before the credit card becomes due.

Of course only a few bits get returned and the rest 'by mistake' runs over the last return date so has to be kept and worn
    I think....
  • My OH is an accountant so know where every penny is so he's pretty money savvy - except it's me who does the shopping and he asks me to go to so and so's to get whatever, and then when the cc statements come in he wonders why they are so hefty and of course it's all on my card so it's a case of 'what have you been buying'!!!

Another thing is that he has a wallet with no money it it! It's stuffed with old receipts and his cc's so when we go to pub or wherever, he has to ask me to get the drinks as he never has any cash. I say he thinks he's royalty - not needing to carry any cash!

Other than that he's not tooooooo bad - except for some of his eating habits! He once licked his plate after a meal :o and our 3yr old grandson was eating with us, DGS then looked at his grandad and said 'what are you doing?'
  • My husband is an accountant so always knows where every penny is ! My only complaint is his insistence that eg yogurt one day past its sell-by date isn't fit to eat, so I end up eating all the out-of-date or less than perfect stuff. But as this is the worst habit I could come up with, you can see I have little to complain about. Now if you'd asked him about me, there's a different story !! My philosophy is to save money everywhere on household stuff to fund my clothing collection !
  • How funny, I just posted and there was your post starting the very same way !!!

elizabeth in complete contrast to your OH mine buys yoghurts/drinks etc when they are whoopsies and about to go out of date! Sunday he bought about 4 packs of 4 yoghurts (weightwatchers) for 10p each because they were at their sell by date! (he does eat them and in all honesty they taste fine!) In fact he absolutely hates to buy anything that is full price - hence the reason why I do the shopping!
  • Partner is TOTALLY clueless about money: inherited £330,000 from her father in 2001, refused to pay the mortgage off (I paid it off with my retirement lump sum in 2009.) Kept the inheritance in her current (no interest) account from 2001 to 2007. That year I found out and persuaded her to put it into savings and investment accounts. Then the US financial crisis hit so she concluded that I am financially inept and she was better off with the current account. Still believes despite her having savings of £100,000 plus but no income while I have a £950 per month pension but no savings that due to me having a regular income I am far richer than her and should pay all regular bills . . .

I wonder where all her money went?

She turns the shower on till the hot water arrives, but leaves the bathroom for 5-10 mins forgetting the hot water going down the drain.

Buying stuff for his fish tank constantly!

I sort all the bills out and just tell him what he owes me and we take it in turns to pay for the shopping - I'm trying to teach him about the bills though in case he ever needs to know.
