Spill the beans... What's your partner's worst MoneySaving habit?

We're moving on from our Great Hunts to a brand new format. We want your gossip, thoughts and insider tips on a different topic each week.

What's your partner's most annoying habit? To start it off, we want you to dish the dirt on your partner's worst money habits and see how they stack up against other peoples. Does he pick his nose with a 10p piece, or does she steal money for shoes from the kids' piggy bank?

All our finances are joint and we list big spends so we can jointly decide what is priority and when. The minute we buy the top item off the list, he has another 6 items to add to the list. It feels relentless sometimes.
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.

  • Every time I try to talk to him about money his first panicked question is 'are we f**ked?

Losing money on a regular basis because his wallet's full of receipts, train tickets, cards - everything but cash! He just keeps his cash in his jeans pocket, and consequently realises he's dropped a fiver. I can understand that he doesn't have the same big-picture approach to money that I do, but the way he's so careless with his cash drives me up the wall!

it just burns holes in his pockets.. I get laughed at for being tight, I NEVER pay full price for anything and he doesnt shop about.. I did persuade him to log in to my Quidco account when he spent £550 at tesco direct though... so I am up £16.

He doesn't care how much it costs, he wants it & he has to have it. Then he tries to tell me that it's for us!
  • i think im actually the worst as if i want it, then as long as i can afford it i get it. my fun money usually runs out after a week, wheras he still has money left in his account at the end of the month. i like going out for dinner, he sees it as a very occasional treat, i dont see the point in denying either of us something if we really want it, if the moneys there and its not a couple of thousand then i will tell him go for it if its something he wants but debates over the cost.

saying that i do however make sure all the bills are paid and have a savings plan and pension plan and paying off the mortgage plan in place before we even get any fun money for the month.
