  • Drawing the cash spend limit in full from the bank every week even though there is some cash left from the previous week. The previous surplus is then "salted away" for illicit purchases so distorting the budgetting.

My husband is like a mouse with money. You know how mice have no control over their bladders and leave a trail of wee behind them everywhere they go? Well substitute cash for wee and that's my beloved! He always moans about wanting to have some money in his pocket for emergencies (despite me never, ever having the same luxury) but it's always spent very quickly and he can never seem to remember what he spent it on.
He also never reads his mail or opens bills, and I'm supposed to know what needs to be paid and magically find the cash to do so.

Mse changed my life so much so i had to convert my wife into a miniature, took 3 years, of me. Lead her to believe the best we are with our money the easier, in a financial sense, life will become.

He doesn't care how much it costs, he wants it & he has to have it. Then he tries to tell me that it's for us!

Never checks the use by date on food, so we end up throwing out stuff that doesn't get used.

I keep balance transfering my OHs old credit card debt from 0% to 0% credit card.. He doesn't seem to overspend, but he doesn't seem to bring the debt down either. And if I don't remember when the deal is running out, he will just leave it.. There is DD set up, so he won't default... but the interest charges!!!!
He hates dealing with stuff like this, I told him tough, he shouldn't have had credit cards then!
He is very difficult about money, they never talk about money in his family and I don't think he actually ever knew how to budget or what to do, got himself into a mess as very young and then it was just too difficult to think about..

How he nags me to be careful with money :p
I now check my bank account daily because he used to moan when i said "Well icdont know what the money has.been spent on"
  • My DH isn't too bad. Ok, so he doesn't know how much our bills are each month and he doesn't know how much we have in savings. He also sneaks things into the trolley when we do a physical food shop rather than an online shop. But he does run the shower for five minutes before getting in (not strictly a bad moneysaving habit, as we aren't metered) and if he's on his xbox in the evening quite often he forgets to switch it off at the mains when he's finished. He also likes to have takeaway once a week or so (I have educated him on money off vouchers though).

On the whole he's quite good. When we shop in Tesco, he asks if I'll put it on my Tesco credit card so we get the extra clubcard points, then transfers the money straight away.

I'm quite lucky really. Either that or I've brainwashed him...

  • Not planning ahead on food shopping and ending up spending way more than we need to.

That's a really minor nitpick though, apart from that he's probably better with money than I am...
