It might be obvious but the extra tax you pay for your luxury hobby here in the UK will help to treat and fix future bodily functions directly related to this hobby, when buying in the UK you should really look at this as an investment.
The way I see it: you damage your self+I subsidies it=everyone suffers including you.Five exclamation marks the sure sign of an insane mind!!!!!

We are very lucky that our children don't moan and whine for things they see in the shops. They might show us something they find interesting with a hopeful look in their eyes.
I say "Oh, yes, that looks good. That might be a nice thing for your friend X for his birthday" or whatever and move on quickly. They will just accept it.
DH will buy the thing - whatever it is.
Everytime I have a clear out of toys for charity etc most of them have been been bought by Daddy and have not been played with at all.

OH is really good at not frittering money, but the amount in his bank account always comes as a complete surprise to him, as does his annual tax return (despite his having been self employed for more than 20 years). Bless. In the interests of fairness, I've just asked him my worst habit, and after a bit of deliberation, he reckons I tip too much. Guilty as charged, despite the fact we don't go anywhere without a voucher these days.0

We will probably need a dehumidifier for the winter as my OH's flat gets so damp so I looked around and found a decent one for £35. I showed it to him and he's decided that he'd rather pay £60 towards an Xbox360....Hm.Savings £8,865.22 £/15,000 Aiming to save enough for a house deposit.0

My beloved knows to the nearest penny what's in his current account but he refuses to take advantage of bogofs. He was in Asda one day and the cheese he was buying was on bogof - the assistant made him wait whilst she sent for the free one and when he said 'I don't want 2 I only want one' he was told to give it to someone who couldn't afford it - now me on the other hand lol! My hubby's worst habit is if he knows we have 'spare' money he goes looking for something to spend it on.
I tend not to tell him what's in the savings these days, and make out we still need to be careful. Turning off everything after me and pulling the plug out. So ruddy annoying to have to continually plug everything in before using.
He switched off the oven a few weeks ago as I 'had left it on again'. The !!!!!!! dinner was in it, silly sod. I noticed half an hour later when I went to see if it was done. I didn't switch the light on inside while it was cooking because he nags me not to and save electricity.
He's reached round and switched off the bathroom light before while I've been on the toilet because he automatically thought the room was empty.
Oh and the iron. Switch it on in the morning to iron something, go upstairs to get aforementioned something or use the loo or make a cup of tea while it heats up, come back, iron switched off.
He's switched off the landing/stairs lights before about three seconds after i switched it on and while I was about a third of the way down the stairs.
I wouldn't mind but I've never left anything on unnecessarily. I was the one who told him to turn off all the ruddy digital clocks on everything as it was burning money, but now he takes it to extremes.
I've found him staring at the shower box because it has a permanent orange light on it that never goes out. I know he's wondering if he dare take the cover off and fiddle with the electrics to disconnect it.
EDITED TO ADD: I've also found him unplugging my work laptop a few minutes after I plugged it in to charge.
BUT...guess who turned the heating on a couple of days ago when he was cold instead of doing a lovely fire with all the free wood we've found over the year."carpe that diem"0

My OH, bless him, is very mixed when it comes to money. On the one hand he will hunt high and low for bargains - everything from the shopping, computer games or something he needs for the car. He will happily sit for a few days just reading reviews and researching his purchase. He has probably saved us allot of money over the 5 years we've been together.
Then on the other hand he drives me mad with the way he'll waste money on silly, unneeded purchases, usually off ebay!. "I got it cheap, was only a couple of quid" is the usual reasoning. Then on the few occasions he does check the bank account he is always says "where's the money gone?". Also if he has £20 in his pocket when he goes out I can pretty much guarantee he'll come back with no money.
OH is still "work in progress". The message is getting through slowly, just this impulse buying I am trying to rein in. I'll get there eventually. 0 0

Having justifications for spending money - we're getting a bonus from work, so that will cover the cost of an upcoming wedding - but the cost was already covered.
It's not a "bad" habit, just a bit funny...
His "bad" habit os going to the pub for just a few pints but then getting drunk, coming home for his wallet and going into town and paying taxis and nightclub entrance fees just to have one or two more drinks. Really stupid, but he only does it about once every couple of months so no big deal. We can afford it, so no worries, but it's an awful waste, imho.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

I think we might be married to the same bloke! Mine however DID rewire the garage lights to be more efficient (hes an electrician tho lol). I have had the odd paddy when I've gone to the loo only to find hes turned off the TV I was watching and the lights in the room... soooo annoying.
He would say my worst thing is buying/booking things spontaneously. But I do normally look for codes etc, but make the decision and go for it in minutes, he deliberates for weeks...Light Bulb Moment - 11th Nov 2004 - Debt Free Day - 25th Mar 2011 :j0
